Hey everyone I was wondering if Starstreaks actually did anything, I can never seem to do anything with them, do they even have a proxy?
With Starstreak you have to directly hit the target, they dont have proxy.
They used to do much when they were available on british apache right at start of battle
A nice video about the missile (timestamped to 0:39 where they talk about it not having proxy):
There are some changes made to it on the dev-server at the moment, no clue what those changes are and if those changes are bad or good.
The darts are now 3 separate entities (more than they were before?), but its extremely buggy now.
Why do they never seem to hit anything even standing still? And what’s with the wobble on launch?
They are very ping dependant, so if you have a poor internet, they will pass through targets.
Wobbe is just something Gaijin added.
Huh, well I only have 230 ish ping I wouldn’t have thought that would be an issue, but considering I can’t hit a straight flying drone idk
What’s your average ping? Starstreaks are largely unusable on high ping (~200) as the desync between where an aircraft is on your screen and where the server thinks it is is big enough for the missile to just whiz right past.
If you really want to piss yourself off, take it out into a ground battle, get a bunch of clear hits that seem to phase right through the target, then load up the server replay and watch it just barely miss over and over again.
Last night, I got 5 star strikes on my Ka 50, and I took exactly 0 damage.
Think of it like this:
The missile is (at launch) traveling at 1100m/s (i think?) and with a ping of 200 that means the missile travels 220m during just your ping window. Lets say that the missile only errors 5-10% of your ping, that’s still 11-22m of error. For something that needs to hit the target (and not only explode close by) that is quite a bit of distance that can differ between client and server.
That’s the other fun thing about them. They just sometimes do absolutely no damage to helicopters, the one target they can consistently hit.
They seem not to do damage to light ground vehicles too despite having 30mm kinetic and 20mm explosive pen
so does that mean they each have their own turning radius’ now?
how is the aiming, since i assume you’ll have to aim it in a way at least 1 goes on target
…and do they hit when using the radar screen?
The aiming rn is roughly the same, tho they rn are bugged, so if they are fixed, it should be the same as on live.
Yes, they do.
There is a bug where non-heat warhead missiles and shells have far less fragmentation than ones that have HEAT warheads.
These missiles only have ~25 gram HE filler difference yet the Rb.70 has a HEAT warhead so it does a lot more fragmentation than the Rapier
I’ve gotten a couple of kills, but only against super lightly armored tanks like BMPs. IRL, they should have a considerably more potent punch, since while it isn’t made of tungstun, it’s still a submuntion travelling at very high speeds.
