I know the game developer can do this because there is an option to play night battles. Those that use aircraft don’t really care about the result of the game, first chance into a plane and let a base get captured by the other side. Then there is the cheating; by that I draw attention to those that drop their bombs a millisecond before crashing into their target so as to make sure missing is not an option. Tanks can’t crash into aircraft or damage other tanks by crashing into them…a bit of aircraft bias and totally unrealistic as this was a Soviet tactic throughout WW2. So if the developers aren’t going to do anything regarding a ‘no thanks to aircraft’ perhaps an option for those that prefer not to be REVENGE BOMBED or have half the team wiped out by a 5000kg bomb dropped from 1500m would be to start shooting at EVERY aircraft flying. Perhaps this might work because they might be on the other side next game and be dishing out a bit of revenge bombing on you…think about it.
My one caveat comes down to certain map designs. We all know maps have power positions, but there are some maps where those power positions have little to no counters. There are some positions that physically cannot be pushed by an opposing team without being obliterated by someone in a power position. CAS ofc mitigates that but if you really want a gamemode without CAS, the maps need to be addressed first.

Hundreds of “I HATE CAS” threads are spawning out of the ashes already…
Hmm… makes one wonder why, eh?
Somebody didn’t check the forums before posting
Lots of people who would rather whine about something than try to understand or suggest improvement.
nah, its the inclusion of an extremely low skill floor mechanic to nearly guarentee a kill on a person regardless of capability. Combine that with the death replay camera showing you where your enemy is. Historically games have rewarded killing sprees (and WT has nukes for that) but this game has a reverse mechanic where being bad has a reward. The trivial spawn point requirement for a fully loaded attacker and the extreme rate they came be spawned in just leads to frustration for people who are actually good enough to understand the game.
Not only that, air is HUGELY favored. There is no need to search for enemies, the maps are the size of postage stamps. You were just shown where the enemy was 15s ago, which is about your travel time to the map. Then once you get into an engagement area, even dedicated AA struggle to kill you before you release ordinance. Pilots can take 120m AP rounds to the chest and not die. Planes don’t generate internal shrapnel from rounds hitting components. Aircraft engines are many times more difficult to penetrate than tank engines, even to extremely high pen AP/APDS rounds. ‘dead’ aircraft can still drop bombs. And just crashing into the ground next to your target as you drop bombs is a viable strategy in a lot of cases.
The ‘just spawn AA’ crowd is going to show up at this point. Which is hilarious, because planes are better at killing AA than AA are at killing planes. AA doesn’t have crew that tank shots for days. And once odds go more than 1v1, planes win all day long with the massive mobility advantage combined with the lack of ANY stealth belts for ALL AA. 2v2 AA vs planes i’ll take the planes any day. The ground is often a bigger threat than enemy AA.
No.
Seems like Gaijin would rather close the game entirely than to give us TO mode.
yah its definitely what I said, and you didn’t help it with what you just said either. You can fix CAS’s issues and make it more fair without removing it. People just don’t want to have to use their brain and think of solutions and would rather kick and screech about something as unrealistic (never going to happen) as removing all air from ground battles
Hi, This topic has other threads that cover the same idea. please use a thread like If you could, how would you re-balance CAS in Ground Battles? - Game Discussion / Realistic Battle - War Thunder — official forum instead of making a new one.
