I have researched and played 12.0, but my happy rank is 8.7-9.7.
It’s more happy vehicle or happy lineup than happy rank. Once I’m happy with my lineup I’ll just play. I’ll research vehicles that I want but I won’t grind for it. Takes to long to research vehicles and to much effort.
I prefer playing Rank 3 to rank 6. Dont like the fast gameplay and the grinding of higher ranks.
I would say the grind makes up about 30% of my game time, and the 70% remaining is playing tiers I enjoy. Which is the 3.7 to 6.7 range. I do play a fair amount of 8.7 here and there with the US and RU trees. And while I’m at the 12.0 tier for the US, RU, and France (every other being around 9.7-10.3), the state of top tier and Gaijin’s seemingly willful choice to not balance it, its just not that much fun.

If you play for the end you forget to have fun in the middle.
Too many people only play for the grind.

I recently reached top tier the first time. And from my personal experience I can tell the higher the BR the more annoying CAS is and more matches end up with one team spawncamping. In summary the lower the BR, the more fun WT is.

havent reached top tier, and i think i never will, Im just having too much fun at 8.3-10.0, yeah you get missiles but you still get most of your kills with guns and fights can get very, very complex and you have the performance to clutch bad matches, and the only thing deciding a win or not are your own skills, i find that super exciting.
No, I am scared of being regarded as a noob so I only play top tier and do terrible with a 1 minute lifespan … lol
I keep multiple lineups for most nations I play. Including lower BR lineups.
I don’t revisit much low tier Japan (because it sucks) or France and Sweden (because they’re either bad/unfun or it’s just C&P).
I’ve played since 2013, and I’ve spent the vast majority of that time grinding away for the stuff I want. I’m sure like many who played since the old days, I had my WT bucket list of things I wanted to be added, and over the last 12 years it’s just been a slow process of collecting it all - and keeping up with ‘top tier’ in the tree’s I’m interested in.
But in this past few months, I find myself in the position of now owning pretty much everything I ever wanted. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still about half a dozen things I’d really love to be added, and I’ll grind them when they are, but as for what’s in the game today, I got everything I want.
And honestly, I kind of don’t really know what to do with myself in WT anymore. For the first time in a long time I didn’t renew my premium, and lately I’ve just been vibing mostly in mid tiers playing lineups I actually enjoy, or chilling in customs with my top tiers because I don’t like actual top tier RB gameplay anymore.
I’ve tried to make challenges for myself, for instance, grinding all HU/ROM vehicles using only HU/ROM vehicles. I started grinding TT’s I never touched prior (SWE/CN), but honestly, I just struggle to motivate myself to actually grind for things I’m not wholly passionate about.
Israel is probably my favorite nation, unlocked almost everything, so I think my next goal will be to spade it all, max my crews and maybe go for all the medals in the process. Should keep me occupied another year.
