This is the kind of gameplay I enjoy. Maps like Sands of Sinai. At long range your armour also matters more, for obvious reasons.
Sands of Sinai was butchered beyond belief and totally unplayable with certain line ups.Zero cover and firing AP with no HE potatoes in the complete open with zero cover and no armour.
It had a reason before ,now it has none.
Funny thing that just came to my mind, the “community” is not the people that go on the forum and write in topics and discuss the game. The majority of players are casuals and therefore would prefer smaller maps.
And ARB and GRB now goes like a bunch of props/jets/tanks smashing into each other.
Props don’t climb; jets have overwhelming info/ capability to easily notch an ARH missile/ used to eat dirt for multipath and pour fox2s; tanks always engage frontally since less driving = less spreading of units
Casuals is a thing but, , WT is not a game that should be played without thinking
Just because it shouldnt be played without thinking doesnt mean people will start to think.
Give us large map ground RB with dynamic spawns you capture.
Heavy vehicles that are slow will become fine as you can risk spawning near enemy fire.
CQB enjoyers/ LRC haters when they complain about large maps because they can’t aim properly and the only thing they played besides war thunder was CoD with aim assist.
Jokes aside both CQB and Large maps are good but it depends on how it is implemented and gaijin fails on the CQB ones.
I’m more of a Large maps guy, because i enjoyed how tank battles were on other games.
i wish combats on war thunder were like Arma III, Project Reality, SQUAD, or GHPC.
On these games is where tanks combat truly shine.
CQB of only tanks feels weird, there are some people saying that bullshit argument of “ohh but tanks were made to do CQB” of course they can CQB but they need to rely on Infantry and other support, they wont go into an enemy city without info and support.
thats why CQB works so well on other games and on War Thunder is so shit because ok, maybe CQB was “ok” on this game before, but gaijin keeps fucking up the maps making small maps more braindead
Would be much better without hit cam telling you where to shoot.
Dynamic spawns would require a gamemode more complicated than what we had in 2002.
Of course, so better make people think.
Small cards are OK for the BR 1.0 to 4.0 ratings. However, for higher ranges, larger ones are better. Reducing the possibility of flanking and shooting over 800m makes no sense unless you want the GRB to be a Street Fighter mode.
Small maps are just better because you can just get killed way faster and lose the game, so you can join another game and lose that one too because that’s just how this game works
Oh, Noooo!! 🤡😭😭😡
Open the maps back up. Flanking is important for some vehicles, and range others. Also, they need to bring back some of the cool high ground as well. It used to be so much fun.
Maybe I’m one of the few weirdos that try to play Soviet vehicles like NATO lol maybe I got my barrel/breech out of service way too often when CQC so my instincts is to prevent the same thing from happening again that put me in a hopeless position, in long range maps I could still repair my barrel/breech unlike advance to the Rhine it’s usually a dead sentence. The T-90M has -6 degree gun depression which is the extra one degree is quite noticeable when compare to the T-80BVM, which opens up more spots to camp where you could hide your hull and lower your gun enough to shoot. The large variant of Fulda is nice and I can only hope it weren’t too rare.
Seeing this makes me sad
I played it around it in a custom mission and so much of the map is wasted, there is a cool desert dune section in the north and a hill on the north-east side that overlooks the city, the western side lake is kinda bad for tank gameplay but nothing that can’t be fixed. The map actually feels very natural, and there is a lot of attention to detail that went to waste in favour of the reserve tier mayhem that all tiers have to endure in the city, GSB and GRB top tier would really benefit from this version of the map.
I love large maps, they need to starting having larger teams as well and throw in some new game modes, maybe even AI infantry that can be killed for rewards.
Happily, there is no rule requiring you to spawn, so nothing is “forced”. For lower BR vehicles, I prefer smaller maps. Without any forward spawning mechanic, bigger, slower tanks make it difficult to appreciate larger maps. (And the big maps really are miserable if you’re in a tank that is both small and slow!)
My answer to a mismatch between the tanks I want to drive and the map I’m given is to exit without spawning and try another country.
Whatever the scale of the map is, I will hate it if the damned three lane mission design continues on it.
