So since last night whenever I log into war thunder it fails to download addition content then comes up saying ‘‘Disk I/O error’’ the game still works perfectly fine and I’ve checked my xbox and nothing seems wrong. im just a bit worried that something might go wrong and my war thunder stops working. Im on Xbox Series S
Since the game itself still runs and the error appears while downloading additional content, this is more likely to involve the content package, available storage or Xbox reserved data than your account progress.
I would try the following in this order:
- Make sure the console has sufficient free space on its internal drive.
- Fully shut down the Xbox rather than using a normal standby restart, then power it on again.
- Open Manage game and add-ons for War Thunder and check whether an add-on or content package is shown as incomplete.
- If a specific optional package is identified, reinstall that package only.
- If the game is installed on external storage, test it from the internal drive if possible.
I would not delete your saved data or account data as a first step. If the message continues, please post a screenshot showing the complete error and the name of the additional content it is trying to download, together with the Xbox OS version and War Thunder client version. That will make it possible to distinguish a storage problem from a broken content package.
