Discussion on the Loading Time of Long 90mm Gun Ammunition

May I ask why the ammunition loading time for T32/E1 is so long; I don’t understand why Gaijin set such a long 90mm loading time. Is this reasonable? I know its propellant is very long and the turret space is narrow, which reduces the loading efficiency, but Gaijin admits that the loading time is for balance, but is this really based on the loading time given by balance? The performance of the long 90mm is not as good as that of the long 88mm, and its RB is in the 7.7- hellish range. There is no reason to make the loading time of the long 90mm so long (only considering the game)

Reload time of T32 is fine, more than playable

Yeah the long 90s have a very long reload for seemingly no reason. T32s could become much nicer to use with that changed.

They could definitely take a good 5 seconds off the reload time of the T32 and it would honestly be fine, the gun performs similarly to the Tiger 2s gun so I too am not sure why it has double the reload time

Iirc its because it uses a two piece system for loading, so round then the charge which is why it has such a long reload.

I know it does, and from a realism perspective then sure, its fine. But from a balance perspective (Gaijin has said many times that Reload is a balance parameter and isnt always historical) It could honestly be shorter without making the tank over perform.

T32E1 is already balanced though, an increased fire rate would make it closer to 8.0.

Ill say this from my time playing them, in a downtier they are formidable, in an uptier they need to be played in a very different way. I dont find the reload to be the problem personally rather i find the gun to be inefficient compared to the T34 at a lower br though it may just be my luck with the T34

I have spaded the T32 as well (but havent touched the T32E1) and it is definitely formidable in a downtier, though I found it was formidable mainly because you could sit in a strong position and basically be the immovable object, with nothing able to penetrate you, rather than being able to rack up kills with it.

but my experience with the gun is the same with the T34, the T34s gun is just better at a lower BR, with the same reload. the 90mm does at least pretty consistently 1 shot anything it does pen, but the penetration is a bit on the low side for the BR. Especially when the same gun is on the Super pershing at 6.7 and that tank has a faster reload too. They could at least drop the reload on the T32s to the same as the Super pershing IMO.

Most heavy tanks in 7.3 or 7.7 can effectively crush the lower layers, not just the T32. Compared to other heavy tanks of the same type, its firepower is even inferior to the Tiger II. Its armor is definitely not as good as the IS4 and MAUS. It does not have stabilizers, cannot compete with the Conqueror, and is in almost the same position in terms of ammunition loading time. Its advantage is limited to good maneuverability
