Unfortunately that has only gotten worse, not to defend the execution of the Finnish subtree but it is at least there in the flesh, the same of which cannot be said for Benelux or Thailand (and soon to be Switzerland).
I agree, after Hungary ground i thought theyd start taking it seriously but that wasn’t the case unfortunately
Well, considering how much of a downgrade Finland was from the subtree before it (South Africa), I can not say I had much hope for Hungary. The planes were a blatant case of laziness (they even say in the devblog that more are to come in the future), and ground was exceptionally meh. I am glad that we got stuff like the Csaba, Turan I and III, and Zrinyi II, but at the same time I think we can both agree there was still a lot of missed potential.
With Finland there is an equal amount, maybe even more missed potenial, but since it was the first step after South Africa, Gaijin at least had the decency to patch their holes with copy paste stuff.
I doubt that is a F-22. Its an L/50 gun, with a relatively big undercarrage, it would be sticking out a good tat more.
I think there’s a good chance that the 20mm autocannon was probably an AA-variant of the Lahti AT-rifle.
Ngl if Finns actually managed to upgun themselves some T-28, I’d appreciate such vehicle being in the game, preferably researchable. I wonder whether there is some finnish report stating at least the fact that this particular gun was used in modification (after that, it’s just the matter of logic to understand which gun was installed on which tank)
There could be, reading through some journals or reports from the different battles talk about a bunch of ways they uparmored vehicles. Primarily through their hatred of the BT’s by cutting them up and using their bodies as add on armor or makeshift components for things. One journal mentions a BT that had part of the chassis cut to make a step to help get into a T-28. Realistically the Fins tried a lot of things they hoped would help them win the war and a lot of things simply just didn’t get recorded very well and have been lost to time.
I know you do a lot of the german Reports and ive been pretty curious but would you happen to know why the Germans only modified some of the T34-76’s?
I know 3 modified and 3 unmodified were sold to Finland via a trade with a captain, only 3 of the 6 arriving to Finland as Germany needed the tanks more iirc, its just weird to see the more German esq version not in game versus the more standard T34.
(Shame Finland doesn’t have it, would be great to have a 4.x lineup that isn’t just TD’s)
Side tangent, but it vexs me that Gaijin didn’t bother with the Finnish Camos and from me Pm’ing a mod they have no interest in modeling the correct camo for the Fins as they just use the Swedish winter camo.
Can you elaborate?
Speaking about some cupola changes and iirc some add on armor
I dont know about the add on armor, but the Cupolas are as far as i know pretty much mostly field workshop modifications when available.
Yeah, theres unfortunately not a lot of info on the deal between Germany and finland for the T34s in question unfortunately. Just thought it was odd that the models with the most German touch ups weren’t the model chosen as a premium. Though i guess gameplay wise people would be upset if Germany had theres changed to have the cupola or if Finland got the model with the cupola. I think its a rather neat modification considering it was just a blatantly better design to allow the commander to have a better view than the Soviet model.
Would be a nice vehicle to see hopefully given how lacking the Continuation War lineup is, still waiting on the Sturmi and Stug IV so i can have all my favorite stugs but guess modern stuff is far more popular…
I’ve seen a generally knowledgable finnish guy state that the barrel is just a pipe that was fitted so that the tank could be used as a prop in the background of a movie, but I’ve got no proper source for that. No idea what movie that would have been either
That seems like the most plausible explanation, as I also found the amount of rubble built up around the tracks to be unusual for a postwar vehicle.
Looks like we’re buying IRIS-T SLM also lol
Jeg tror, at alle vil være med lol
Sweden bought in and now we are, guess we wait if Finland will. Norway has their own stuff so i doubt they will.
Really good for regional interoperability. All that’s left is to see which carrier vehicle both countries choose.
Yeah, im quite curious, when we bought the Skyranger we chose the Mowag Piranha and it has its own unique missiles from other users, i do hope after they add Skyranger to Germany that Gaijin will give Sweden the Danske Skyranger, the absolute unit that it is.
Oversigt
Totally agree! Finnish subtree holds a lot of untapped potential, and vehicles like the StuG IV Sturmi and other unique wartime modifications would be excellent additions. both for lineup variety and historical authenticity. There’s clearly strong community interest in seeing these kinds of vehicles, along with further representation from other Nordic nations, brought into the tech tree.
The addition of the Danish M24 Chaffee was a great step forward and gives real hope that we might see continued development of Scandinavia, possibly with more content from Norway and Denmark in the future. Maybe one day we’ll even see the Norwegian Panserjager NM116 make its debut. The Danish M24 certainly suggests that its possible! They have the template now its just a matter of time^^
