Security Organizations Infantry Discussion
Since organized conflict rarely stays within the lines of regular armies, infantry-like units have existed far beyond traditional military branches. While standing armies and marine forces are the most obvious examples, history is full of groups that fight, secure, or operate on the ground using squad-based tactics. From naval landing parties to intelligence operatives and internal security forces, many organizations field personnel who function much like infantry trained to move, clear, hold, and control space.
Different branches and organizations bring very different doctrines to the table. Naval infantry and marines bridge sea and land operations, while airborne and intelligence units emphasize speed, stealth, and precision. Partisans and resistance movements rely on mobility, local knowledge, and improvisation rather than standard equipment. Security and police forces, though not military, often train in squad tactics for riot control, counterterrorism, and urban operations. Even intelligence agencies like the CIA or KGB historically supported or trained paramilitary units, blurring the line between soldier, operative, and enforcer. Add in mercenaries, private military companies, NGOs operating in conflict zones, and other non-state actors, and the definition of “infantry” gets very wide very fast.
This thread is meant to explore all those gray areas. If a group organizes people into squads and sends them onto the ground with a mission, it belongs here. Bring examples historical units, obscure organizations, doctrine differences, equipment choices, or ideas on how these forces could be represented in Warthunder Infantry. Whether it’s naval landing parties, partisan cells, police tactical teams, or intelligence-backed paramilitaries, post your thoughts and help shape future discussion and suggestion posts.
