I absolutely HATE this aircraft.
Another long-running example of Russian vehicles with ridiculous parameters - or lack thereof in some instances. It is genuinely pathetic.
Yaks stiffen incredibly at high speeds and can’t really dive well. I honestly rather fly 109 F-4 or F4U-4 to Yak-3 because with the F-4/F4U-4 I can dive down without ripping and the plane still controls like a sane thing.
Granted, I imagine markers and third person view + mouse aim remove a lot of the issues yaks have. Plus, they nerf their opposition through instructor limits.
Not my vids:
109 F-4 vs Yak-3. A match-up decided by playerskill rather than raw performance domination.
Yak-1 is fair for it’s BR, it’s comparable to a Zero and it’s horrible survivability paired with good maneuverability and bad engine performance.
Yak-7B has horrible maneuverability paired with bad top speed and engine.
Yak-9 is Yak-7B but with improved maneuverability and engine.
Yak-9T is Yak-9 but with anti-tank cannon.
Yak-3 is a very very very good aircraft but still there’s some aircraft that can win against it.
Yak-3P is Yak-3 but absurdly better in any aspect, maybe the hardest Yak to fight against but there’s still many planes at 5.0 that can face it.
Yak-3U is Yak-3P with better engine and more drag due to the engine’s shape, basically P-51 in steroids.
Yak-15 is amazing due to the BR, jet engine, light weight, maneuverability and armament. however, it only has 1 23mm cannon which is hard to aim sometimes and it isn’t that common in ARB, and is still out-turned by props which have better acceleration and maneuverability.
