would be nice if they gave helis ARMs to test them before adding them to fixed wing
Yeah that’s an AH-64E which unfortunately we don’t have in game yet. You can tell by the MUMT-X on the top.
If Gaijin could just fix the Hellfire launcher to be stabalized AH-64 Hellfire pylon angle causing hellfires to hit ground // Gaijin.net // Issues and implement proper LOAL where you don’t need to pre-lase that would go a long way to improve the Apache gameplay.
Currently the launchers are permanently setup for firing from a hover so if you try to be dynamic when launching you waste a lot of the missile motor energy on correcting from being launched into the ground or having to jerk the helicopter up which makes you an easier target.
And if you actually had the option to launch from behind cover and only expose yourself for a short while to guide the missile in, you would have better survivability, and I don’t think it would be especially OP given how dynamic games are and finding a target stationary and exposed long enough is going to be rare.
It would make Apache gameplay more realistic as the player would not be incentivized into a drone type gameplay where you take off go high and spam missiles and then gets shot down.
you sorta can launch from behind cover by targeting a point on the ground and launching without enabling the laser but the IOG has relatively high drift and it is impractical to do this at the ranges where hellfires are effective in game because it is unreliable and even when it works doesnt provide much benefit
the only time this is useful is when targeting tanks with laser warning but I prefer just to lase the ground a few meters away from them before readjusting a few seconds before impact
it would suck in game because of how much mav motor under preforms or mav having way too much drag
I recently tested firing a mav from hover at 1km altitude at a static sea level target and it hit the ground at just over 6km slant range, it would probably only hit moving target around 4m given a similar altitude above which is way too high for helis if there is any AA in the area
also it feels like hellfires kill more reliably than HEAT mavs in game for some reason and the SAP ones have an even lower range
edit: I kind of want to try hovering launch for mavs from like 100m and see how terrible they are in game
try giving them a loft angle.
also im sure all FnF heli AGMs are restricted to 7-8km anyway
I did, still hit less than 7km even at roughly 40 degree launch
kinda good enough lol. PARS 3 LR is 7 km capped and i use it at around 4-5 anyway
yeah but that was a at a static target, if they start moving its gonna drop to like 5km, and again that is from 1km altitude at a sea level target, its gonna be much lower if launched from around same alt as target
dw. moving targets dont drain that much speed. its not designed for it but im sure many people will still take the FnF capability over a SALH seeker
I’ve tried launching them from 100m off the ground, you won’t hit targets past 3.5km lol. Mavs are just heavily underperforming on their flight profile, which I guess gaijin refuse to implement the fix that’s been reported.
Where’d you get the AH-64 picture from? The only source about the AH-64 having AGM-65s that I’ve seen is a Raytheon brochure which had a really low quality (same pic).
With how Mavericks are implemented I doubt it’ll be that effective. I’ve tried firing mavericks in the harrier when in hover mode and it doesn’t fly that far. Maybe 6-7km if the target if stationary, probably less if it’s moving.
I won’t be surprised if this will be the first FnF agms US helis get when the LMUR is added.
IDR 1994 iirc
good enough lol. 5 km is standard engagement distance for PARS at moving targets even at 100kmph
again its about 5km from a altitude above target of 1km, I expect that around 50-100m above target which is pretty normal for heli, you will get less than 1km of range
That’s a gross underestimation lol.
The motor can push the thing at least up to 4km
have you tested it then?
because if you had you might realize how terrible that motor is in game, ive had low altitude launches from jets at like 500-600 IAS fail to reach targets around 6km out
