[Development] Testing out the Severe Damage mechanic

I have a feeling the 100% kill reward is going to be lower in RP since there’s a chance one complete death could equal 120% reward given to multiple players… so in Gaijin logic, that 120% would total what the current 100% is therefor making the future 100% lower to make up for the extra 20% being given out on their end.

Ok my number one concern is what if for example the pilot of an aircraft gets killed but the CPG/WSO lives. Will it also count as a kill? Or will the pplane be able to fly as combat worthy. I mean the apache CPG or tomcat wso have the ability to take control of the FCS

Seems like this is just really made for top tier jet stuff and they have it made to look like something “beneficial” for low - mid tier air combat. I tried a game, and saw next to nothing different, but more games could change that view somewhat. Not really sure. I kinda like the “intentions” but again, it is more for a selective few and not for the majority of players. I don’t play RB and it’s possible this may have more of an affect on that mode than AB. It does seem overly complicated(but what part of the scoring in the game isn’t?? . . lol) and convoluted . . but, this is the way. I think naval would benefit more from this kind of system than planes specifically . . . but, who plays naval? . . I mean I do some, but most of the player base . . . not so much. Proper kill crediting is off more in that mode it seems like.
Something simpler would prolly work better . . in the long run, like - vehicle is destroyed, player dealing 50% or more damage gets the kill credit, if no player gets 50%, player with highest damage percentage gets kill credit, 2nd highest gets additional points over Assist . . simpler. Just a thought, and I have pondered this for a while. Personally, I’d rather see them fix the collision mechanics and remove that awful “props bent back like a banana peel” any time I get within 50 meters of something. I mean if I am close enough to another plane to bend my props, we hit each other and both should go to the ground,
But that’s just me

I’ll be honest, I got the XF5F and started sniping out peoples engines.

It felt bad, it felt dirty, but it worked

Sever damage mechanik works qutie good with props. But with jets there was a problem. I was playing with my MiG-29 and evaded a missile but got hit by some shrapnel. Only the front and back fuselage was hit and blacked out, though the performance of the aircraft was not affected. Still I died at the end of the match because off “Severe Damage”.

Having tested the new mechanic in the initial and medium rank events, it definitely feels like an improvement in-game. My only concerns are 1) does this overall negatively affects the number of points gained and 2) assists are now harder to get, will winged ally or similar battle pass challenges have their target number reduced_ Also some of the onscreen messages associated with the change are way too long (at least in english).

I had a feeling this was the case, although I hadn’t noticed anything in the change logs. Definitely makes the eagle eye daily task a pain to get.

I’m very concerned that given many prop matches end prematurely due to the abhorrent AI ticket bleed, what happens to all the players who have taken damage and are still alive? Do they all now receive ‘Deaths’?

This is getting over-complicated, if you did not finish the job then you don’t deserve the kill PERIOD.
Also, if the game ends and you are still alive but severely damage, it should not count as a kill or written off.

So if the plane you damaged is spinning towards the ground(guaranteed kill), and your teammate chooses to steal, you should get the kill reward?
Mate your thinking aint logical

this sounds really bad and is ridiculous - if these “enhancements” in gameplay go further I am afraid that in future for medium bp-dailys actions only count for vehicles => rank III

I hope the “rules” will be optimized based on these test sessions

More assist mechanics are overcomplicated?
So if I hit the guy with 2 missiles and a strafe with my guns, he’s missing both wings and has no tail controls… Do I simply not deserve the kill because I have a major skill issue and didn’t 360 no-scope the pilot from 0.9km?

there are many scenarios where we can argue one way or the other… but if you want to make sure you get the credit for the kill, then finish it off yourself, don’t wait for someone to do so.

Why should I have to put in extra effort to “confirm” a kill on an already dead aircraft? Is somebody in a nosedive into the ground while entirely crippled not enough?

This is not going to solve anything, the scenario you presented as an example is only in your head so we don’t know all the details, sounds made up. A plane with no wings, no tail, no controls that is a straight kill.

It is? Instead of putting all of my work into destroying an enemies control surfaces / tail control just to get nothing out of it, I get a 80% reward of a kill for doing the same, as well as my teammate getting a part of it.

Then you should play more ARB.

A plane without tail controls is not considered dead, even if its engine is blacked and on fire and it’s missing multiple vital parts.

you would put the extra effort to confirm the kill, because you want to make sure the kill is credited to you, if you don’t care then it is your fault.

Or I can get 80% of the rewards of the kill by disabling him entirely, and then the other 20% when he dies to my means. If a teammate kills him, I get the 80%.

Ahahahahaha, that’s because IT IS! It’s a community wide RP nerf.
Currently the killer gets 100% and assist gets 50% reward.
With the new system killer gets 80% and the assist gets 40%.
We traded a massive RP nerf for killstealing reduction. I don’t know how I feel about this. Though this won’t affect me as killstealing goes against my personal honor code, but still…
