if you play the SPAA to destroy tanks, i would suspect a skill issue
try to fight the aviation, it would be much more effective
what about the 4.0-7.3 gap???
Skink will be 5.3 in RB, so with the upcoming update the gap is reduced to 5.3-7.3
I woulds suggest you dont understand the flexibility of an spaa.
Numerous SPAAG are used in an anti vehicle capacity.
The Skink is a bad SPAA its range is so short and the 20mms do little damage.
not the light SPAA like the T77E1
those who do just do not know how to play SPAA
Going with that tie you could Tie US as a whole to UK. So i guess why not give the UK an M1A2
Thats a pretty big generalisation
You can disable tanks to help your team.
If there are no aircraft to engage
helping the team is one thing, but using the vehicles in a way that is not intended to is never effective. you can’t evaluate the T77E1 on the basis of its anti-tank capacity, no more than you can for the Skink. you need to consider his ability to fight aircraft and only this.
the ZSU-23-4 is also pretty bad against tanks, yet it is a much higher BR.
if there is no plane in the sky, then you do not spawn it
Making the proper decision about when to spawn a vehicle and how to play it is also part of the player’s skill.
if you are reduced to only having this to spawn, you help the way you can, but never seeking a direct fight against a proper tank would be effective with such vehicles. all you can do is to provide support and nothing more.
Lets end this discussion, we have diametrically oposing views
I don’t think the ZSU-57-2 is 7.0 for it’s anti-air capability
because it’s a heavy SPAA that was also used in USSR as tank destroyer. it’s actually recognized as such.
fair it is at least a domestic heavy
I suppose so, but I still think the anti-tank capability does the heavy lifting for ZSU-57. I basically never see it used as an actual SPAA, nor can I remember being shot down by one.
That aside, I think we can all agree that “overall effectiveness” is what determines how good a vehicle is, and that goes for SPAA as well.
A SPAA can have 0% anti tank capability but still make up for it with good anti-air capability. Some are dual-purpose, basically 50% anti-tank, 50% anti-air, a good example being LAV-AD.
That’s why I’m excited for this T77E1, it is a pure anti-air basically, as opposed to the dual-use M19 and M42
in real life, the ZSU-57-2 was intended to be used against high bombers and not low-flying aircraft. it was not designed to track quick targets, it was designed to shut down high targets at long range. bomber and aircraft flying in formation and such.
True enough, but this is not really the case in War Thunder
Why the US getting the skink then if they get the T77?
My guess is that the T77E1 will be 3.3 or 3.7 while we know the Skink is 5.3
Both fill out gaps in the US SPAA line
Even if the skink is 0% US
na, it was based on the 1955 futura

Two extra 12.7mms means it should be 1.3-2.3 BR higher than the 2.7 M16 MGMC? Also it can’t stand up to aircraft armaments, do you see the massive glass domes on it?
It has worse survivability (glass domes that are easy targets), similar mobility, a tad bit more firepower (2x 20mm is more similar to 4x 12.7mm, in my experience), but comparable amount of ammo per gun.
What is so different about this thing? Its 12.7mms don’t pen any more than the other Rank II 12.7mms.
