[Development] Introducing War Thunder’s New Event Cycle

Will you have enought vehicles to supply event chain? And then, why those vehicles can’t be in a tech tree? Bad idea for me, event is a time when I have a plan to play War Thunder more than usual to grind the event. But I don’t have a time to play that time constantly. We have many holes in tech trees so why you can’t just fill them with vehicles you want to place in events? And Gaijin certainly didn’t know that rare events attracks more people, more people = more money, more vehicles in tech trees = better balance and people that will grind them, more attractive tech trees to grind etc etc. @Smin1080p @Stona_WT It is definitive option?

Tell me you don’t play these events without telling me you don’t play these events. Or your own game for that matter.

You are aware that your time in a match is lower the higher BRs you play right? Since top-tier is horribly unbalanced due to poor vehicle implementation? So it effectively either ends in roughly then same amount of score or ends up with you getting less. Not to mention how much rift raft you let in with premium vehicles and one-death quitters.

“Haha get good scrub with our poor balancing of top tier”. Yikes…

It honestly sounds like gaijin is counting on this. To increase their revenue.

WT is now a freemium game. Should have seen it coming when they launched WT mobile.

It’s not that many more vehicles. Two crafters plus summer event was 12, plus 1-2 on-offs a year. At 12-18 days per event, 3 days off in between, count 6 weeks off for the summer and winter breaks promised, works out to… 15 event vehicles a year instead (plus the winter event, which is staying).

Only difference is the weighting is back to what it was a few years ago of 1/3-1/3-1/3.

It has always been like this with events.

Part of the reason why the market exists is so that users can just buy their way towards the reward they want. Task events have always had the option to buy tasks for GE. Both of these are there for people that don’t want to grind or don’t have time to grind, yet have money on hand.

This is not something new.

Or they just saw the data that told them that increase of players during event is substantial compared to when no events are happening.

Yes, it’s a decision made while expecting this will increase revenue, but it’s not a single reason.

In the end, you can always vote with your wallet.

They probably removed crafting events because they couldn’t get it to be profitable enough on the marketplace despite their efforts to change it.

I’m sorry to say that this is not a solution. High rank is a lot more volatile that lower ranks, a single player’s impact on a match is reduced. You either stomp with your team or get stomped.

No it’s not new. But the amount of events are being increased. This is turning into the mobile games that release new spending events every week.

More events but the number of vehicles overall won’t change much.

Given that I’ve seen Miragen and Alvis arguing each other into exhaustion many times over the years here, I’d assess that as… unlikely.

Nah, they are definitely pulling this out of the mobile game market.

I’m sorry buddy but i think it should be 30k across the board rather than shoehorning players into higher teirs the majority of feedback dictates people don’t actually like.

This sounds beyond aweful, if you want every vehicle you’re grinding 11 months straight for 35~45k points per 2 days.
Some people have jobs, we don’t need another one next to it.
I can’t help but think there are ulterior motives for this moves rather than “player feedback” because this sounds more like a full-time job than playing a videogame.

Or you just stop grinding events and just play Warthunder with tons of normal researchable vehicles.

Lower the amount of points needed = players who dislike or dont have high tier can have a good time too

also could you please answer some more questions?

I woudn’t agree that cheaper vehicles are a good thing. Many times it was worth to grind crappy event vehicles just to sell them and buy discounted premium packs with good vehicles for Gaijin Coin. Now with rise of supply on the market, it will be a lot harder to get something good.

You can see it by looking for the prices of previous event vehicles compare to for ex. QN502

So as people have said, this is a reduction in peak grind. A lot of people have said the grind during events was unsustainable for them.

Crafting events: 75K per day (in the mode of your choice)
Summer/winter: 60K per day (with 20K in each mode) for max rewards.

Total of the three events being cancelled was 7 weeks out of the year you had to keep up that pace to get full rewards (12 vehicles) and the rest of the year you could just play for BP or whatever.

This is 18-23K per day, sustained essentially year around (over 45 weeks, roughly, for ~15 vehicles) and split evenly between the three modes.

So the peak grind has evened out, which I think is a net positive for players. The real issue is the average vehicle price in terms of score required is going up somewhat. A crafting event vehicle on average was about 225K total score to get, a summer/winter one was 280K (assuming you earned to keep; 340K if you earned to sell). Vehicles in this system will be 210K-405K score per, by the numbers given. I mean if the quality of vehicles is comparable or better, that’s not necessarily bad either, but it’s notable there’s no promises to that effect (like saying, “they’ll all be rank III or better.”)

EDIT: Typo corrected

Sounds like more captalizing on FOMO.

Not a great plan.

I didn’t think I’d see the day where an admin tells someone to play high BR to compensate for the lack of care and empathy Gaijin has shown to people who play lower BR’s. Telling people to play high BR is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a completely different game that many people don’t enjoy and they prefer to stay at the lower BR’s because that part of the game most people flocked to initially, especially older players.

Telling them to “just play high BR” is so tone-deaf I am actually baffled and question if we actually play the same game.
