Imho that was always their goal (at least since they decided to put Mach 2 jets into the game).
As said before - earnings - and players tend to flock to vehicles & nations with high WRs. On top of that WR is the most popular way to steer & balance f2p games from gaijin’s perspective. The MM which creates lobbies based on certain nation combinations plays an important rule too.
You might be not representative for all players. War games are usually seen as competitive games and wt is nothing more than a vehicle based shooter.

The DU discussion is really only the tip of the iceberg when you are talking about changes to be made. And mind you, the other changes are not as big but would sure up some of the weak spots, which have already been accepted months ago and haven’t been implemented. Things like volumetric accurate turret ring, UFP and armor around the driver correction (fuel tanks) as well as side armor values. All documented, all proven, all submitted and reviewed. I won’t go into spall liners because that’s a topic that is widely debated. But saying that it shouldn’t get its DU hull upgrades because round could still go through it is not a reason deny them. Things like shots at angles could then get deflected better, no more turret ring kills from WW2 guns and auto cannons going right through the ring, etc. Also, even if the shots pen, the spall from going through better armor would not look the same or as large.
The thing is, as shown with the SEPv2, LAVAD and F15 E, even if you get more advanced things, if they don’t give the accurate values, shiny new toys don’t matter
Those don’t exist, or at least afaik there isn’t any special form of ammunition that specifically defeats DU armor. HEAT worked well against normal RHA, but then ERA/NERA was created to combat that, and then APDS/APFSDS was adapted/upgraded to deal with those, and DU is just the incorporation of DU into NERA.
Sure, there are tank rounds IRL that penetrate probably any form of armor in existence, but in War Thunder they use a weird penetration formula that from what I can tell will hit a limit at some point (if the APFSDS penetrators don’t get considerably longer).
Regardless, having an extra 35% KE and 25% CE on the turret and then adding the turret’s level of armor to the hull will definitely make the Abrams better. When I mentioned it better shells I meant just you know better shells not shells that are specifically made to go against do armor and second of all I’m sorry but NATO tanks are not meant to have equal whole armour as a turret armor because the studies They did showd that the majority of area that would get hit on their tanks is The Turret and that’s where they emphasise the armor plus their Tactics of preference to fight in a hold down position
Well first of all I’m not I’m still reading and second of all the Swedish the leopards have different type of armour because of the doctrine of that country
I just want to clarify I don’t want state that it never had du armor I’m just saying What I Saw I’m a nerd for t72 I don’t really know much about the Abrams I’m saying from all the pictures and from people that I’ve talked to it doesn’t look that whole armour is equal to turret armour and again from previously mentioned studies where they saw that majority of the rounds that did impact their tanks was in the turret and I came to conclusion that if they did reinforce the armor they probably emphasise the turret as the place where it got hit the most
It’s not just the playerbase, vehicles sucks too. Gaijin really should fix that Hydraulic Pump already, not only it’s unhistorical, but makes playing Abrams pure pain, you get hit anywhere in the hull? You lose turret drive 90% of the time and cannot fire back. If it’s LFP shot then you lose the engine and driver too, just sitting duck waiting for enemy to finish you off.
And for Heli’s, the Longbow should get it’s Spikes or the F&F Hellfires with IR guidance instead of radar. Sadly there’s no fix for top tier SPAA yet.
USA ground is below mid, 5 second reload is average now, Heli with only Hellfires is below average, Abrams has good active advantages but those are topped by Japan and France, and for armor wise, only the turret cheeks work when hull down, any shot to hull disables the tank completely and cannot fire back like most of other tanks. Only above average is the CAS and CAP capabilities.
Man I don’t even care about that thing anymore, that Hydraulic Pump was 10 times worse nerf than that ring ever was but it doesn’t get mentioned because most of this playerbase stopped playing USA long time ago, that’s why players suck, hardly any veterans play that tree. Gaijin has completely abandoned USA top tier in ground for years now, it’s worse than a lot of minor nations, France top tier is almost better in every way, especially when getting Leopards next update.
