[ DEV Server ] F16 blk 52 discussion thread

Another US “Toptier” Jet that’ll go nowhere, as of right now i fear the F16 blk52 without major changes will just be DOA. At the BR of 14.3 a 13.7 airframe with an AESA slapped on top, paired with 6 subpar missiles just won’t cut it, especially if Gaijin decides to make this an “Typhoon (AESA)” type of issue where they just slap an AESA on top and call it a day, without actually adding the other essential feature of the Upgrade package the Radar was integrated with (in this case namely the PoBit, adding 360° RWR coverage, MAWs, the already added AESA and CFTs although I am unsure about those).
To fix the issue I’d propose the full integration of the PoBit upgrade package alongside multi ejector racks for AMRAAMS (as seen in the F16V brochure) to take the total missile count to 10 putting it more in line with the current toptier environment and todays meta.

please use Aircraft tag for such threads

Isn’t this more relevant as Dev Server Discussion, given it’s an addition that it is far from finished

Since its a critique of the jet’s overall capabilities (which, in game are not far from real life)
Yes it should be in Machinery of War Discussion Aircraft

If you want it in Dev Server
You should rename the title to something like:
[ DEV Server ] F-16 blk52 discussion thread

And make a clear list of what the POBIT offers. i have a feeling gaijin will implement that anyway but it would be nice to have them listed

  • Terrible radar
  • Lacking FM
  • Low CM count
  • Six missiles
  • No significant CAS upgrades (GBU-53)
  • No upgraded avionics (multicolor Thales Scorpion HMD)?
  • Straight up worse engine that the Block 50

Oh it’s also heavier than even the F-16I

It does seem to be the PoBIT even though Gaijin have been staying silent on actually naming it.

It has AN/ALR-69A(V) DRWR in the pilot stat card and AN/APG-83 SABR.

It hasn’t got the cockpit yet but if it has the CDU then we know for certain it’s the PoBIT and not one of Gaijin’s monsters with bits and pieces salvaged from different versions.

It should also be getting either JHMCS II or Thales Scorpion HMD’s too but until the cockpit is added we won’t know if it will have it or the same half-baked JHMCS I.

Isn’t the new engine better? I’m so confused.

Some sources say it’s lighter than the previous engine (F-16C Bl50) and generates the same amount of thrust, even slightly more without afterburner and at high altitudes, so wouldn’t that make it better?

but yeah I agree with the rest, seems like a 14.0 jet at best.

as of right now it’s a worse F16I in every way (aside from Radar), and the F16I already isn’t that great at 14.0.
It lacks MAWs, a good RWR, has a worse engine, worse weight, no CFTs, worse CAS loadout

although that much is true, I do fear it’ll be one of Gaijins unholy and unfinished creations

If they give it a new cockpit of standard F-16C Block 70/72, then it’s undeniably PoBIT.

It probably should be an advanced config of the Scorpion. (Much better to the one on the A10C, multicolor with all bells and whistles)

I know they’re trying to go for a PoBit but their naming scheme with the devblog and it also not mentioning anything other than “AESA” and “shiny GBUs” does make it seem like it’ll be a half hearted addition with most features of the intended variant missing

  • MAWS should come as PIDS pylons.
  • RWR looks to be unfinished, AN/ALR-69A(V) should be much better.
  • Has the same engine as the F-16I.
  • Should be lighter than the F-16I but somehow they think the Sufa is lighter.
  • US F-16’s can’t use CFT’s since they don’t have the plumbing for them. (Except for 1 off test units).
  • This one I’ll grant you, it mainly is missing guided FnF bombs which we could get as GBU-53 which would be similar to SPICE 250 but have MmW guidance. But that isn’t in-game yet.

They have stated that the gub-53s might come but most likely not in this update. And it would of course be introduced as a castrated IR version.

you learn something new every day, thanks.

sure as for the rest it is unfinished, but even if all of that is implemented, does it really warrant an 0.3 BR jump from the SUFA without additional missiles? I just hope they add the advertised turkish ejector racks

Unfortunately, until they include display info for weights either in statcard or somewhere else, we are unable to correct weights in-game :(

I have submitted a feedback requesting them to include weight info in statcards.

Hi, heres a potential MAW the f-16C blk 52 could get
could you upvote the bug report so gaijin sees it
thanks

That is the Terma PIDS pylon, I doubt that Gajob would introduce it onto the 52, more likely later (if ever) on the 70/72/V.

It’s compatible with the PIDS+ pylon but it, itself is a unique pylon called ARC MWS

I doubt they will, we haven’t heard anything about them since Turkey cancelled their order for the upgrade kits which would have included those rails.
