Leclercs don’t have HE TF/VT, the only Leclerc that has a dedicated HE round is the XLR, other use HEAT as a multi-purpuse HE.
Wait so similar to how Abrams MPAT HEATFS works?
This especialy at top will not change anything top heli are to far and fast to be hittable mayby if it can be implemented at like 9.0 can help againt less advanced heli overall a good or at worst neutral meccanic
No, they just use it as anti-vehicule and anti-infantry, it does not have any kind of proxy/timed fuse.
Ah duly noted.
Shame not all tanks will get this feature, as many tanks like the Abrams and Leopards still rely on legacy systems that are based on inertial+laser lead tracking, unless Gaijin tries to implement such feature.
They should just give them “IRST tracking” because that’s how the system works technically. I’m not familiar with the Leopard’s FCS system, but I’m familiar with the Abrams FCS.
The chieftan does a great video showing off the FCS of the M1 in this video
I heard a former M1A1 tanker say that they are still using the old inertial track lase and lead on most Abrams, it is not a true IRST where they use contrasting temperatures to track the target. Leopards still use this system too, apparently.
Gaijin would have to implement inertial lead, but for in-game purposes it should just function like IRST except with a laser warning because it requires lasing and the inertial movement of the turret to calculate the necessary lead.
GHPC does a pretty good job at showing how this system works on M1 Abrams.
You literally linked video that shows how much it doesnt have tracking. It has basically primitive angle following and shouldnt get tracking in game as that actually requires recognizing target and automatically following them
No, I know that it doesn’t technically have IRST tracking, but in essence, the functionality simplistically is almost IRST. You laser the target, the tank computer gives you the correct lead. Since this hasn’t been implemented yet, and I’m pretty sure Gaijin has said that they have no plans on adding the MBT tank tracker, just like how the real M1 Abrams operates. Now, in the sake of gameplay over realism (to which Gaijin is very fond over), I think they should give the Abrams IRST track
if this is to be implemented as a feature to all tanks except the abrams and leopards, well tbf abrams have proxy HEAT, so theyre fine
but leopards gotta get EPHAG
Damn why do all the cool projects have to die out :(
I wish we saw more of these experimental ammos for top tier MBTs, Abrams could get the XM943 STAFF, X-rod, XM1007 TERM and XM1111 MRM-CE/KE
that seems unlikely as most abrams are of a standard that have upgraded fcs these days, even the late m1a1 variants werent using legacy FCS afaik, and the m1a1 is fully retired as of 2016 iirc
both abrams and leopards have the ability of doing such i dont see why you would leave them out
they sadly lack automatic target tracking irl
although the FCS will be upgraded from the 2A8 and onwards
It’s not like this system can’t be used to hit helicopters but it just boils down to Gaijin not wanting to model it, that’s the thing.
Honestly don’t see it changing much but giving MBTs a fighting chance against Helicopters. Granted if the helicopter moves an inch then they’re safe.
This only reliably works for ground moving targets and cant be applied to air targets. Laser returns from an aircraft are too “jumpy” to provide sensible constant (active) ranging/lead to the gun.
“Capable”
