[DEV] CS/SA5 – New IOG+DL midcourse guidance on FB-10A makes it overperforming (runway kills from ~14 km with no warning)

i know, i dont know how that would directly affect an G2A IR missile tho

Might not be a missile specific code but something tied to the crosshair or aiming which might explain it happening to this. kinda like the SPICE 250 bug with Brimstones and the TGP will now follow your mouse aim rather than the TGP box :D

this is how it works on live right now:

you can fire in any direction when you have a radar lock and it will fly torwards your cursor (will lead & loft as if going for the aircraft radar is locking, but torwards where you are looking and not where the aircraft is)
it will do this until missile ir seeker locks on a target which you can do by pointing you sight at the locked aircraft when it gets close enough.

you can top down attack aircraft using this mechanic and loft missiles above mountains, its pretty fun and useful. great against helicopters.

so the difference is that you can do this without radar lock on dev??

your understanding is completely correct

It already can do this on live.

Fun fact about the FB-10A’s datalink, actually. Its currently the only missile in the game to have IRST able to provide datalink updates.

I didn’t know that
Interesting

Does the IRST have laser built into it?

Yep

I can’t even remember a single time where I died to a CS/SA5. Dying to that thing is a serious skill issue tbh.
When the enemy team has IR sams always make sure to flare and change directions. Even if you dont see any rwr pings, you should still drop some flares occasionally.

Even without range finding, IRSTs in game give range information through datalink; or atleast would if there were anything besides the FB-10s with IRST datalink capability. So its only noticeable when making custom munitions in user missions.

It is an IR missile, unless you have MAW you won’t even know it is flying your way

at max range its going like 600-700kmh at best

it literally lofts itself subsonic

if you die to it at those speeds it on you, not to mention the speed it loses when its motor burns out and it has to maneuver

If it is really . Then it should exist.
In reality IRIST SLM 9X PY5 have it ?

Even without maneuvering when it burns out is like it hits a wall

Firing at a drone ~12km away going in a straight line its barely supersonic anymore

i know lol

you are lowkey lucky if it hits anything after it burns out

As things are, no it isn’t. You can fire all of your missiles at the mi28 tormenting your team, and watch them miss by a kilometer, you won’t see many helicopters without busted IRCM. What it is good at is stealthily taking down close flying jets.

Are you maneuvering after taking of from the field and do that all the way to the battlefield for no reason?

to position myself? lol, who flies straight at the SPAA

Position 20+km away from the battlefield? You take and intial course (somewhere towards the battlefield) and fly straight.

okay lets say you literally fly straight at the battlefield, the missile is still subsonic after like a max of 11km (as shown above against a straight flying drone), it would literally require you to not touch your keyboard to get hit, and even then its not a guarantee.
Not to mention the missile only has 18km max range.

idk why people are taking issue to this lmao, it doesn’t change the fact that he missile is incredibly subpar
