In the current dev server build, the FB-10A missile on the CS/SA5 has received radio command (IOG+DL) guidance in the initial/midcourse phase. On the live server, the FB-10A relies on its IR seeker only and must lock on before launch, which limits its effective engagement range.
With the new midcourse guidance, the missile can be launched at targets far beyond seeker lock range, flies under command guidance, and only switch to its own seeker (TRK) mid-flight. As a result, a CS/SA5 can now destroy enemy aircraft taking off from their own airfield — including nuke carriers — from ~14 km away, without using its own radar and without the target receiving any warning.
Engagement range drastically increased: midcourse guidance removes the seeker lock range limit that previously kept the FB-10A balanced.
Spawn-camping aircraft: players can be killed on the runway before they can react, maneuver, or use countermeasures.
No counterplay: no radar emission means no RWR warning, and airfield AA cannot reach the launcher.
Combined with the new long-range radars: the dev server adds long-range surveillance radars (55Zh6 / AN/TPS-59) that share enemy aircraft detections with the whole team. Together with IOG+DL guidance, this allows the CS/SA5 to engage aircraft at the enemy airfield while staying completely passive.
Undermines the nuke mechanic: a team that earned a nuke can lose it on the runway before the carrier is even airborne.
Unbalanced compared to other SPAA: no other SPAA at this BR can engage aircraft at the enemy airfield from this distance without being detected.
Suggested adjustments
Remove the IOG+DL midcourse guidance and revert to the live server behaviour (seeker lock required before launch); or
Only allow command-guided launches when the CS/SA5 has its own radar track on the target, so the target receives an RWR warning; and/or
Prevent launches against aircraft on the ground, taking off, or inside the airfield zone;
Add airfield protection for aircraft taking off, similar to spawn protection against artillery.
Rn it works the same. You forget about the missile cause you think it failed and it then suddenly give you kill 5 min later. Its actually better at it than just firing at flaring plane with radar lock,as that will make it miss.
If the command datalink is transmitted through radar like the other command guided systems, it will have its own RWR launch signal, whether tracking with the radar or not
nope, not datalink, the FB10A in the dev is similar to the 95ya6 of Pantsir or the vt1 of ITO90M, and it turn into ir in the end, it’s definitely different than the irist slm
