The first half of the flight of the FB10A is completely identical to the 95YA6 of Pantsir and VT1 of ITO90m, it’s completely different than IRIST SLM
it depends if you have a IR lock or not, and if you launch via DL, if none of the previous two are there it goes half saclos.
this was introduced cause it would not go into IR track at all when it was added, and was pure saclos

yeah but you can either lauch with DL (2 circles) hard lock (normal single red circle), or skipping both, no lock circle at all
but yeah you need radar contacts
If it does have a pure SACLOS mode on the dev, then you’d be able to guide it manually over a mountain without a radar contact at all
You will still get a spike on RWR as you need constant radar to update the datalink course correction, it literally functions identically to ARHs in Jets with datalink midcourse correction. if your dying to this then yes its a skill issue

you should get pinged by the search/track radar as CS/SA-5 uses TWS, no hard locks

and it switches to IR at terminal homing when the IR seeker sees “something”
you will get some form of RWR notification because for the IOG+DL to work you need the target in radar search zone the entire time till the seeker goes active and switches to IR which is 10km. once the target is sub 10km the seeker goes active then you no longer need DL to guide the rest of the way
