What I’d like to see for this game mode (and the SEAD) one would be a combination of the two, where you have 2-3 bombing targets and one SAM Site. If the attackers take out the Sam site have occasional cruise missiles spawn to attack the facilities. That should spread out the attention of the defending site more and give the attackers more opportunities to actually get to the targets. Plus I think that would make for a much more engaging game mode.
Yep. And if these missions aren’t historical, what we need is a combination of aircraft.
The attacking side should get access to not just F4Es, but Mirage IIIs, Tornado GR.1/IDS, F-111s, F-117s, Nesher, Event specific Kfir Canards and Strike variant of the Viggen.
The defending side should get access to both Mig-21s and Mig-23s for CAP flying.
The match maker should also randomly assign people to teams to fill out the attacker/defender teams instead of having like 53 people in queue on the US team and 19 in queue with the USSR team. (I went into a 3 minute queue because there were 53 people on the US team and 12 on the USSR team.)
This event mode has so much potential for success but its poorly implemented and optimised.
Just had a match where we only had 28 buildings left but the AA kept us from even getting close enough to spot anything. Theres like 8 SAMs and SPAAs that we aren’t able to see. You can see the missile trails but by the time you do, there’s already 6 headed towards you. AH-1Fs are just sitting ducks with weapons that can’t outrange the AA let alone defend from the Mig-21s.
Acually this main idea is quite nice, but is totally unbalanced. The only way to win this for Attacking side, it just drop bombs or missiles and die, so there is no possibility to do it without being destroyed. First I thought helicopters could destroy all the AAs and then Phantoms destroy the rest, but that’s also impossible during the time we have and respawns count we have. The only fun are getting migs and those guys who don’t even have phantoms and now they have the opportunity to fly them, ruining the idea of this even with their joy fly
Yeah, I’ve yet to get a match where there is this few left, but I was 100% expecting this issue when I saw the objective. You have to somehow locate a few undestroyed buildings which would be tedious even without SAMs and CAP
Maybe… But im still not sure it should be necessary. Should be on a “Destroy X% of buildings” not “flatten everything” Especially if this objective type is transplanted into something like ASB ]
Some feedback after about a dozen or so matches of this test:
The match timer is far too short. Probably should be twice as long.
The factory complex should probably be spread out a bit more or there should be 2 of them on each map. It’s a bit of a cluster having all the defenders able to just camp one location.
The SPAA is very powerful. Probably a bit of a skill issue on my part but probably could be nerfed a bit.
The heli feels useless to me. It’s cool to have heli and air integrated into one mode but the heli should probably have its own objective in game if its going to be there.
This is VERY similar to the SEAD event. Definitely is a fun change of pace BUT this really should just be integrated into a proper RB EC mode and into Sim EC.
These are the kinds of objectives we’re looking for but we’re looking for multiple of them within a larger mode overall. Both teams should have factories that they need to attack/defend, giving more overall balance to the gameplay.
No matter what, defenders will probably have an advantage in these scenarios but the only way people will play these modes for a long time is if they can bring their own lineup of vehicles rather than pre - selected vehicles.
Overall, good job Gaijin but this is really just an objective test. So yea this is a fun objective but just add this objective to EC.
Unbalanced as sh*t again… WAY too many Migs in the russian team and WAY too strong AI AntiAir… Makes absolutely NO fun like that. Please change that or nobody will like it. Not because of the mode, but because of the nonsense balancing!!!
RBEC is the clear answer here this type of mode should have been a test for anti-radiation missiles
Also the fact that exiting through the exit point to resupply with no airfield option is absolutely terrible because it’s still consumes the spawn that you used instead of retaining it like it should
Compared to the previous event where there were 3 heavily defended SAM sites, this one is somewhat less dynamic. The Rapiers, unlike the S-75s, are short range missiles, they also react faster and can hit low-flying targets. The resulting best strategy is to fly at high altitude and drop/fire ordinance off at long range.
I don’t think the event is unbalanced by its nature, as the balance is fine. Rather, the problem is that there are too many targets and too little time to destroy them. I have played many matches of the mode and not once did the US side accomplish the objective. An increase of 5 or so minutes to the match time would solve this issue.
