13x 1000lb drop straight across the spine of the refinery and I only got 4 targets destroyed. Damn that really needs adjustment

Same issues as the SEAD event, but not quite as unbalanced.

AH-1F is outranged by the SPAA, and routinely gets spawnedcamped by Migs, so it’s pretty much just F-4Es and Mig-21s.

F-4E has extremely shallow gameplay since you either climb as high as possible and lob rockets, or get eaten alive by the Mig sharks. I have had some success with a full A2A play style, however most Mig players are smart enough to stay low so E-2s aren’t a massive advantage to have.

Mig-21 is stupid easy since it’s pretty much impossible to lose in a dogfight. The R13s (which I originally assumed were just Aim-9J clones) just ignore flares entirely unless you’re at max launch range. It didn’t matter if the F-4E I was fighting had AB or not, flares might as well not exist.

Edit: forgot to mention, Mig-21s basically get to airfield camp from the center of the map.

Yeah, its BS. They’ve made a gamemode for ground attackers and tuned it so that fghters will be stronger

and my god, the F-4E sucks. Seriously, give me a decent aircraft, like literally anything else. I would gladly do this in a Jag

And displaying the base on the map. These types of attacks are NOT carried out blind, the attackers flying to take out the refinery/powerstation already know where it is, they fly directly towards it IRL. Half the game mode is trying to find the base on the map and the other half is getting merc’d by Mig-21s because the F4E’s radar is absolutely trash, I couldn’t lock a Mig-21 that was RIGHT in front of me because of ground clutter, it doesn’t get a PD mode. They should’ve involved Tornados in this event because Tornados also struck targets at the Golan Heights and I’d much rather those than the F4E.

Yep, didnt think about it from that perspective, that these arent mobile or temporary structures. An oil refinery is something that the entire damn world would know precisely where it is located. There is no need for it to be a hidden asset.

I was thinking about it from the perspective of just being a reasonable middle ground for pre-assigned coordinates or Ground mapping radar.

But yeah, its daft its not at least visible on the map just from a public records pov

They should have mixed the SEAD mechanics with this mode, displayed objective but hidden sam sites, also the MiG-21 radar feels worse than the F4Es to me

Two attempts with the AH-1F and I really don’t know why this is even an option.

I could at least do some work in the SEAD event even on Vietnam and Golan heights, on Rocky Canyon the foliage is way too dense to spot anything and the aimbot AI doesn’t care. Rapier gives no warning either unlike the S-75.

I’ll have another few tries, maybe I’ll get a different map.

So its not just me. Thought I was going crazy that sometimes I got an RWR ping and sometimes I didnt (in the F-4E)

alr i played the event:
helis are basicaly worthless,
target should apear in the main map once located.
some stuff (like fuel storage tanks) should be way weaker to bombs/rockets.
time is too low in some cases
ai AAA should be nerfed a bit

okay I got Southeastern City which was better but unfortunately I spawned on the very opposite side of the map to where the plant was

The Rapier does give Track warnings but it often gets lost in all the ZSU returns, I probably wasn’t getting them in Rocky Canyon because of all the trees the AI ignored. edit: nevermind just played Sinai and was getting shot at immediately upon spawning with no warning. Yeah idk how the attackers are supposed to win this without organised mass Phantom suicide/CCRP bombing or forgetting the objective completely, go full A2A and making the Defenders quit.

I’m also still in the Sinai game (dead engine) and can hear an autoloading Rapier trying to shoot at me through a hill

I can rather reliably get through and deliver bombs on target, but Ive yet to get back to the re-arm point because there is always Mig-21s that catch me or a sneaky SAM or SPAAG that I missed (god damn the F-4E is a bus) but I do bugger all damage on those runs to the point where Im not actually sure its possible for the Attackers to win. Like at all.

Even with the coordination you are describing. Im not sure that would be enough, even assuming every single phantom got through the air defences and CAP. The target is just… too much. Would be a great target to engage over the course of a 2 hour sim battle (though the target needs to be “destroyed” after a certain % of buildings have been killed because trying to find a single building left would be torture) , with the oppotunity and time to conduct some SEAD, but absolutely terrible as a standalone gamemode.

This is painfully common. Been reported constantly for the past 2-3 years in SB. The Convoy SPAAGs have aimbot, instant reaction and usually engage through terrain. So the moment you pop up, there is a round already hitting you

The US side needs to have more players/spawns to make this balanced, or the AI shilkas need a nerf. As it stands now, the Russian side simply wins on numbers as the US side doesn’t have the time or vehicles left to actually destroy the objective while keeping the MiG-21s at bay by the halfway point of the matches.
