Even with current IIR modelling it would be broken due to DL and how hard it is to flare unless you are preflaring (which not every aircraft at top tier is able to do)
Add extra energy from it being launched by an aircraft at speed and now you have a overpowered monster missile
The game is absolutely not ready for next-gen IRs

How exactly does the use and implication of the block II currently work in the game then? They seem to have found a justifiable way to demonstrate how the AIM-9X works when used by ground vehicles?
How would this the be a problem with the game? This is what would happen to real aircraft. In real life. (look at DCS for example, if you can be asked) If they have figured out the basic flight performance of the AIM-9X, they can do what they always do for other vehicles and weapons, and extrapolate what they think the IIR guidance would look like.
Or, just copy and paste the ground AIM-9X to air platforms, and continually update the missile when more information becomes relevant, because its certain that the AIM-120D is not ‘perfectly historically accurate’, and likely never will be considering how modern the missile is; yet they still added it anyway. Like I said in my wishlist,
If you had read a little farther it would have made sense. I’m not asking them to add a fully fleshed out monster, I’m asking them to add the AIM-9X to aircraft, with the performance it has on ground vehicles.

9X works in grb because it’s coming from a very predictable position (enemy spawn) with lower energy state (ground launch) and aircraft can afford to carry more flares than chaff (due to mp being more reliable there)
because not every plane has the flare count to deal with it?
And the missile will be a guaranteed death sentence unless you’re perfectly aware of the threat before it’s launched at you
