I would rather have gimped IR on top of already gimped EMs than not having it at all. It has only 6 missiles and their range is worse tham abysmal in wt.

Its close quarter performance would be crazy due to having wide angle. This would utilize MICA EM at its maximum potential.
if only they could :
- reduce mica count to 6 on 2000-5F
- fix MICAs energy retention / speed
- Bring MICA IR in a few updates and keep magic II for now
It would be perfect imo.
That way you trade quantity for quality, MICA having a similar range to AMRAAM (if fixed) while retaining TVC, and Magic II still being one of the most capable fox 2
Well, why not to be fair. It literally cant compete in BVR so why shouldn’t it be monster in close quarters. Even flankers are better in bvr and R77 aint that much worse at close.
Iam all for this solution but i dont see amy universe where gaijin does that. If their intention was to have correctly performing mica, it would have been in the game. They certainly don’t care about power creep - eagle with 8 amraams vs gripen with 4 R-darters or mirage with 6 abysmal micas and i dont care that they are best up close. Mica em is supposed to be BVR missile… Not knife fighting spinning meme.

Gimped MICA IR will not be gamebreaking, just like R27ET and R73.
No, i want my Ir missile that has TVC and similiar range that R27ET has.
Rafale will be already limited due to how many missiles it can carry and how bad MICA’s range are, adding Slightly nerfed MICA IR will give uniqueness to French in this case.

R27ET gatewidth IRCCM is significantly larger than both Magic and R73. It’s very easy to flare actually as long as you’ve noticed the launch.

I found something quite ancient, a ground display photo of the Rafale F.2 fighter jet taken by China’s Sina website at the 2009 Paris Air Show, with the original website indicating June 2009
I use them myself lol. They only lock at 15km from altitude, you can see the trail, and they’re easily flared even accidentally by defending against another missile. I missed my share of F15 with long range ET because they simply defended against something else.

But if they could fix the range on MICA EM i would be fine with no new missiles. Mirage 2k is already not the planes that goes the fastest up high, so having a missile with no legs does not help
Same goes for R73 and Magic 2 as well, all these missiles using same IRCCM and gatewith so if you can flare R27ET and R73 you can definitely flare MICA IR that has same capabilities in terms of flare resistance.
