Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

SPECTRA is a fully defensive system that cannot really be used for ennemy detection BUT one part ,the optronique secteur frontal (OSF) ( basicly the IRST in the front ) , can be used for both defensive and offensive manoeuvre . otherwise SPECTRA is 100 % defensive.
also you maybe misunderstood that the MICA IR can be a part of the SPECTRA because it can be use as a passive infrared seeker (MAGIC 2 can also do that btw)

what would be interesting to see tho is to see if gaijin will add the “discretion” of the Rafale and if they will add his capability to JAM ( even tho it would not be very powerfull since it’s not the version with AESA radar)

Rafale in the teaser appears to belong to the EC 2/30.

Pretty bummed theres still no good/interesting way to grind for the Rafale now that its coming. I was bummed about the M2K coming with no interesting premium to use for it, but multiple M2K’s in and still no 4th gen premium for france -_-

Ive been trying to not get the stupid F1C-200 but I might have to at this point.

At least its in a lot better spot than it was, with the FM and Magic changes it makes for decent grinding, just kind of passive/opportunistic gameplay. 70% Win rate but just feels weird to play.

I just dont really like the plane, plus 2 magics II’s is terrible for endurance in sim air (which is what i primarily play) tho vastly overpowered at its BR, and payload to kill 1 base only doesnt really help its value proposition in my eyes…

Oh yea no I’ve tried it in sim, its miserable. At this rate a f2 rafale will probably end up being the next premium, insane thought.

@WreckingAres283 any idea how a GPS+INS+DL+IIR/SALH missile like the AASM’s would work in-game btw?

I understand the fundementals of GPS+INS+IIR/SALH guidance just fine, but DL implies the AASM could have their target modified, but we dont have complex enough air to ground control options to deal with a potential of 6 independent munitions in flight at once all with datalink? Like, itd be nice if DL could allow you to modify your GPS point for an AASM already in flight so as to not always have to guide it to a point where either your laser or the IIR seeker offers terminal homing, but how would it differentiate between a missile whos GPS target you want to adjust and one whose GPS target you want to remain the same for example? Itd be real awkward if you tried to adjust 1 AASM and ended up hitting the same target with 6 of them…

Or does the AASM not have DL? I dont see it mentioned here?

You could slap a talisman on the 5F, boring and top tier sure but its still one of the best planes

Dont have the 5F, dont have any french planes because the first cool one they have are the M2K’s, and I have no way of getting them without grinding them, unless I buy the CS4, which will cost me money, and be worse at its BR for no reason, AND be bad at grinding :')

112 Large Chaff is more than enough for self defense. Currently in game, large chaff is the most overpowered chaff, this is why from my experience, Soviet Aircraft are the most easiest aircraft to defeat my MICA.

Its fast though, last time i popped 30% booster, i did about 140K rp in 1,5 hour of sim. Bomb base, shoot down plane on rtb and repeat. Not the most fun but pretty effective.

Some other question, does the Rafale have VWS? If so, does it speak in its native language or English? It would be cool that if Mirage 2000 could receive this too.

There are sources claiming the Rafale cannot use the two-way datalink with the Meteor, perhaps someone has information showing a certain variant added this capability?

I think we won’t see the IR versions of the AASM, given the treatment Gaijin gave to the brimstone

afaik no french aircraft has VWS

it’s just a bunch of alarms screaming in your ears to warn you of incoming death.

Would be cool to see implemented, but probably quite headache inducing tbh

smaller than i thought it would be ngl. looks roughly size of USS midway, maybe a bit smaller

Hello @Smin1080p_WT , quick question :

after the introduction of RCS reduction for F117 in the last update, is it planned for Jets that have those to be introduced as well, mainly Eurofighter and Rafale ?

First of all, in game, INS is redundant with GPS. For GPS-IR, there’s basically no use for the GPS part, unless the target use smokes, then the missile will pitbull at the last known location. Not very useful in the case of the AASM with only the 250kg kit imo.
For laser, it’s going to act the same way as LJDAMs in game. Initial drop point will be compounded by the initial GPS point, after which you need a laser lock to update the missile GPS guidance. If at any point of the guidance you lose laser (because you have to maneuver for exemple), the missile will go to the latest GPS point updated.

All planes have their own RCS so we will see what they give in the dev but in game it is a bit more simple
