I wonder if this could be EGBU-24? Or does France not use them?
France don’t use the Egbu24 but we might see the GBU 22 with the Rafale

If the GBU-22 hangs in the center, then it will be great
The GBU 22 is used on the same pylons as the AASM (maybe one can be carried on the center but not sure
The funny thing is that the Rafale won’t be able to use regular bombs (depending on the version). Only guided ones
AASM should be 15km if fired low, 70km if fired high. In most case scenarios it will probably have a range of 30-40km, pretty close to KH38, except subsonic.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s more OP CAS, but it isn’t necessarily ground breaking compared to what there already is

One trick it has up its sleeve though, is that it lofts a lot, and usually comes almost vertical on its target, making it more difficult to detect for SPAAs

do you know how long the engine is running? Judging by the trailer, they are very smoky. If they smoke like a steam locomotive the whole time they fly, they will be intercepted very often
that i have no idea, around 10-15 seconds would be my guess, but i don’t have any source to back this one up
Well, at least it’s less than PGM, that’s already good.
They also loft very hard like the kh38. They should then descent vertically and probably unpowered. That means that they’ll be harder to detect than PGM that are flying straight.
Also, I believe they should be able to go supersonic but that’s to be figured out

i seem to remember that AASM has to do a maneuver when dropping vertically to avoid going supersonic, since the airframe of the bomb might lose control, but i can’t for my life remember where i read that

@MythicPi This is first gen DDM, which is also in-game on Mirage 2000D-RMV. However, the Rafale C in the Teaser has DDM-NG (which also means its at least a F.3-4+ standard)". Its has a pretty good coverage thanks to spherical field of view.

I wasnt trying to say its FOV was bad, but it PHYSICALLY cant see through the aircraft, as such the body and wings entirely block threats, which could limit warning time or in the worst case, render it completely blind to certain launches.
I hope gaijin adds in air burst, that might be pretty useful
Am I completely wrong in understanding that the SPECTRA system additionally functions as a 360 degree IRST? As from what it sounds like its capable of launching the IR Mica.
My guess is that Spectra can react to active threats, such has threats identified by the RWR or MAW by LOALing missiles at the threat direction, after which the MICA would pit bull on anything it sees. I highly doubt it can act as a 360 IRST bubble with any form of practical range against planes.
That’s f35’s territory in that aspect.
