Going back to topic; UAE Rafale F.4s are equipped with unique EW Suit device on the back, in front of the vertical stab - could be Satellite Communication, but I am not sure.
When were these Rafales delivered?
End of January iirc.
no the rafale is getting nerfed because the report that buffed the rafale was simply wrong

Normally yeah it should be the satcom
French rafale F4 also seem to be featuring a new and different antenna towards tbe middle of the spine from cockpit to stabilizer . Maybe they went with different satcom antennas ?
Just played my first match with rafale since the nerf, yeah it’s still ridiculous. 20+ kills with no deaths, ended with 31 kills 4 deaths (dying twice to r-77s my rwr didn’t pick up; I’m probably gonna put up a bug report on that eventually). The fact you can launch mica from irst essentially means you can stay in the notch while shooting, literally meaning your enemy will never have a solution on you. Acceleration and overall speed seems to be about the same, so the main thing about the rafale (it’s utterly ridiculous acceleration) has basically barely been touched.
You can still easily just control the entire map at high altitude, launching micas at super high aspect angles splashing multipathers, and you can either run away or better yet? Just pull 17gs into the notch if you can’t out run a missile (which is highly unlikely considsering you’re just zooming at mach 2). Instantaneous still hasn’t changed, I think they really need to change that because frankly I SHOULD be punished for going at mach 1.8, but nope, i can still pull 12 gs on full manual at mach 2 at 10k alt which is ridiculous.
You can literally bait people by staying perpindicular, staying in the notch, then at 6km, just lock with hms ir, switch to pd and launch mica. They almost never expect it. It’s actually hilarious
HMD works fine and locks the target instantly.
I don’t know how spread this claim but it’s not true.
write another nerf report again then, make Rafale perform worser than Phantom if so.
Arcade isn’t generally a stable or effective indicator of an aircraft’s performance. Given how things are actually UFOs in top tier arcade FM nerfs are barely noticeable in it anyways.
arcade?i play sim
That was my thoughts.
Dude they turbo nuked the flight model. Wtf is this. I just played some duels in the grippy/rafale, switched, grippy absolutely NUKES it in the 1v1. It’s so bad. you don’t feel it in a normal game. But the moment you play a duel it feels horrendous compared to what it used to be
Seems accurate for a delta wing design. Nothing wrong there.
And how do you know that? Have you ever flew with Rafale in real life?
People like you always claim “much delta designs cannot sustain turn” while close couple canards with really powerful engines has more than enough power to do that.
We’re not in 60’s and this is not Mirage3C.
- He was talking about the Eurofighter
- The Rafale, like any other fighter aircraft with a delta wing design, loses excess speed in turns because putting it simply, your airframe is turning into an air brake every time you turn. Unless you’d like the change the laws of physics and aerodynamics, that’s probably how it’s going to stay for awhile.
Unless you have direct source from Dassault that shows close couple canards with double engine delta design cannot do that you’re claim means nothing.
If you are basing Delta wing flight models from 70s Mirages or MiG 21s then sure.
Canards and advanced flight control systems say otherwise.
I’m basing it on fluid dynamics and drag math. Vortex lift (aka what delta canards are great at) creates huge induced drag, and no amount of FBW, or canards erases the energy loss from that. Even their AB thrust doesn’t outweigh the drag for prolonged amounts of time. It’s physics. Almost every fighter loses speeds in a turn, so I’m not sure why you would think the most susceptible design to that problem wouldn’t have it.
I dont disagree, its the rate of energy loss.
