Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

oh so that’s them

tbf i thought “spectral flares” was something related to the spectral system (like automatic release or smth) not a that kind of smart flares

Went back and edited my statement to mention that only the 40mm can be spectral. Sorry for any confusion.

No worries! I just wanted to clear any doubt as in this days I’ve saw this statement a few times

“spectral” flares just mimic the signature of the aircraft to a larger part of the EM spectrum (hence spectral). They are used to deceive dual band seekers, which contrary to earlier seekers look at a couple different wavelengths to distinguish the target from false returns/decoys

Are those spectral flares the ones that also “mimic” the aircraft shape too to fully fool those advanced fox 2 missiles ? Because i’m sure i heard something about it on a video with an ex dassault engineer about the rafale.

IS THIS REAL ?!

Yes you now get 8 missiles and more countermeasures.

Hello, is there any news about the tearing speed of the Rafale?

HELL YES, FINALLY !

Any fixes to the radar, or the tracking/locking randomly switching to IR, or HMS trying to lock with IR against people dumping flares ?

No new changes to the Radar or IRST

Dont think so, I thought that tearing speed was already accurate to the IRL top speed?

Yes I know it wont wing rip at mach 1.8 and that it is because of the RAM coating but we dont have that in game.

indeed

Yes it is correct.

Never had this issue on my Rafale before, radar works quite good when im using.

I have had this issue multiple times.

It is not an AESA radar

If you hoping for IRST to stop tracking flares a bug report / suggestion might help. IRST in general used to ignore flares but eventually this was changed to be extremely susceptive across the board. I don’t quite recall the reason.

But that was somewhat recent, probably better off either suggesting a toggle for auto switching IR/Radar or trying to get IR datalink added so we can fire EMs with IRST. The first might not go far depending, given the MTI mig23.

That said I haven’t experienced it auto switching since the second patch. (Still would love IRST datalink)

it is

If there are historical issues, lack of features or the radar is underperforming, it can be reported.

Huh, interesting.

Its an AESA radar.

Excuse me I meant it is not performing like an AESA radar.

The fact that it still scans left and right, is still able to be moved left and right and up and down proves my point.

Along with the valid points others have made most notably the fact that once it establishes track of a target it is unable to keep it even while flying straight towards the target.

Tracks should be kept until you turn the radar away (nose of the aircraft) from said track afaik.

Also not being able to hms lock unless target aircraft is hot on you.

These are huge things that prove the radar is lacking compared to what we are supposed to really have.

It being named AESA and performing like one is two very different things :)
