R-77 max range is 80km (the in game missiles are no R-77-1 with 110 km, neither do they’re R-77M with 193km):

If we consider the chinese variant, it might be missing 20km range : from an USA source.
Yet considering SD-10A missile (export variant), those missiles are limited to 71km range, andfrom which sources might be easier to get.
In game the missile reach 80km which is on par other fox-3 missiles.
so at best it’s only missing 20% of range <37.5% (so yes, MICA-EM is the only one held back that much)
if you want to speak more about those missiles please be my guest and create bug report on those aswell, or specific threads.
Datamined value means just around nothing. R-77 suffers from excessive drag in game which cant physically allow it to hit even at 50km in favorable conditions
Because i do have checked any bug report about R-77, and none are about the R-77 range
if it’s coming from your own experrience, i need to see your launch parameters, as you must know that air is thinner the higher you go and that ranges are calculated at those heights. (or so i’m inclined to think that you do know this)
This is the way. Super cruise is the way to fly this aircraft until you start bleeding energy in turns, etc. It makes sense, it mitigates wing rip…and I find it fun since it is different than the press W play.

Wait, I thought it is already. It should be tracking multiple targets.
It is just that for ground radars, all TWS targets are highlighted with the square box, but for aircraft it only highlights the selected target.

They took the worst value for the drag of the R-77. The problem is that the grid fins of the R-77 are performing very well above mach, but terribly below mach, and Gaijin used the below mach value.
Grid fins perform very well at supersonic regime , terribly bad at transonic and well below transonic . They also perform very well during high alpha / G .
Also if i understand well :
The R-77 missile uses those Grid fins to interact with the airflow which makes the missile to steer.
So there is 2 situations with this grid fins drag problem :
→ high Drag in should appear in turns (over 5g)
→ low drag valie should be used under that.
Still the missile reaches 80km, when going in straight line, from what i’ve seen
But again: this is another topic, while the missile remains of similar range than any other comparable missiles in game.
