Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

It is pretty disappointing. I expected better of the British side of the EFT. Would have hoped they’d have fought to get Rafale and EFT to be appropriate opponents of each other instead of trying to take a hatchet to Rafale and buff EFT well beyond aerodynamic limits when compared to Rafale.

Just makes me sad, in all honesty. Get the Germans wouldn’t be inclined to do that, but had hopes for the Brits.

They could have a good dynamic especially since the Rafale’s kit is better suited for close range knife fights anyway. Ignoring that it is setup for that aerodynamically too compared to the EFT.

And what about the Brimstone on all the Typhoons? Shall we talk about it? Please be mindful that War Thunder is just a game. Complaining while using words in all capital letters makes it seem like you’re angry—dude, it’s just a game…
I think starting a debate about the Typhoon vs. Rafale here is not a good idea because it would only create some ‘hate’.

well did you want a really cool aircraft with cool features, i know i sure didnt :)

Did you expect anything else? EFT is their god and they will do anything to pull Rafale back down.

Most German and British Mains think EFT is some kinda immortal vehicle that can beat anything under any circumstances.

Funniest part is they are still claiming EFT’s flight performance is still underperforming.

Didn’t it just get another buff after the dev server closed?

I don’t know but when I tested it was pulling 17G with almost full fuel and 8 missile, it was straight up Bs.

17Gs, huh
Guess we won’t be far from seeing this in the future in air RB:

Unless Gaijin makes EFT’s flight performance realistic it will be like that, even tho Rafale should be able to beat EFT in cqc easily.

Yes, I am aware.
I’m not saying EFT is bad in a dogfight, but in the realm of delta-canards, its long-arm canard configuration and weight does work against it.

Of course EFT is not bad in dogfight by any means but compare to something like Gripen and Rafale it should be struggle, especially in low speed fights.

Yep, Eurofighter is more geared for supersonic, high altitude performance more than anything.

When we look at some graphs comparing the Typhoon and Rafale from 2011, the Rafale won in all characteristics.

On an unrelated note
Gripen though, yikes.

It’s understandable since the Gripen is much cheaper.

I know this and doesn’t represent whole truth about Gripen tho.

Yeah, it makes the Gripen look completely horrible.
I don’t believe this is the case.

Gripen’s much more of a home defence platform with rapid turn arounds on sorties.

So of course, that tends to make it look a lot worse when anything even vaguely considers endurance or payload. As a home defence platform, Gripen’s an exceptional platform. But it won’t be loitering for very long with a full payload. Except the E. They made the E fat.

Yeah it’s 5 years older than the rafale and it’s much more cheaper that’s why Switzerland choose the gripen

They did make it much fatter.
I don’t think the new engine makes up for the weight entirely, it might even have an inferior thrust-to-weight compared to C.

But anyways, this is the Rafale forum, so I will not derail this further.

E has a better thrust to weight, >1. E is a very good platform, comparable to Rafale in agility but with a bit smaller carried payload capacity from memory, and lower range.

Won’t derail further, but also won’t let you be mean to the chonk gripen 😿
