Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

I think they weren’t but do now say “BOL” in the Tooltip, so im not so sure, and they feel the same as they do in other BOL carriers when defending against an ARH/SARH threat, so Im reasonably confident they are these days

I don’t wish to go off topic, but for now given they still do not seem to want to fully buff the radar for various reasons including information, limitations etc. I think for now CAESAR fixed array might be a good option, given it was tested like Rafale’s MICA’s, HMD etc and really it doesn’t giga buff the plane but just brings the radar up to scratch with a few other nations.

Then again, we don’t have loads of info on CAESAR with which to model it.

Apologies for going off topic here but I mentioned it when we first had the radar issues, and its seemingly only being continuously vindicated as a good option.

this is the rafale thread.

In my defence, I didn’t bring it up and prominent members here also entertained the discussion, but I agree, if its going to be discussed further, it needs to move thread.

and we were discussing the state of the Rafale and its current state/performance vs other top tier aircraft and whether some of the buffs it has received were necessary, such as the MICA EM buff.

That cannot be done without mentioning other nations, especially the Rafales direct equal, who is suffering quite a bit at the moment with a number of strange decisions gaijin has made regarding its radar.

so when I do it, thread gets nuked, but youre ok.

yeah whatever.

Stock rafale is not fun at all.

Had a better experience in the stock Su-33 against 14.0 than stock Rafale.

no they arent

Its not like the M2K5F is struggling at top tier with its current setup. Statshark has it at #6 for KDR and KPS out of all Rank 8 jets, above all other nations 14.0 jets.

It could go to 14.0 if it stays as is rn just fine.

i had a pretty bad time, mostly because i had no clue how top tier is played.

once it clicked though… holy fuck im addicted to the rafale, monstrous jet.

Having the best range in-game also doesnt mean anything when the limiting factor in-game is map size and weapon range.

Its one of those stats thats effectively worthless as long as you meet a certain minimum threshold.

probably due to good players too

I have a little bit of top tier experience from the Mirage 2000-5F, but the Rafale while stock is just not fun. Might be the “best jet in the game” but it’s still suffering from stock jet performance and payload nerfs.

Is any aircraft not?

Su-33 wasn’t too bad for me /shrug

R-27ER is just that strong and the radar is pretty decent all things considered.

F-15J was… okayish, not great but not painful.

Only plane that was actually a worse experience was Tornado F.3(Early) and that’s exclusively due to multipath, Skyflash being stupid slow and AIM-7F overperforming by the most absurd margin.

Jaguar (with no bombs and no AAMs) was my worst. Though still mad that the F3 late and FA2 dont get IRCCM stock like everyone else.

But anyway. Judging an aircraft by its stock grind is usually a waste of time. In the Rafale, Id slow grind till some bombs and then bomb in SB to spade it. What I did for the Typhoon, was a piece of cake.

the mig 19 was a breeze for me, the only problem facing that jet is compression, and fucking av8 morons who will focus you on sight.

Probably not, seeing as the Chinese players do notably better in their M2K5Ei than they do in their J-11B and J-10A, tho this could technically be argued to be due to the other 2 jets having more games played.

The whole “if we do well its cuz of player skill, if they do well, its cuz their vehicles are OP” discussion point is one of the dumbest ones in the WT community. Almost everyone just uses it as a crutch to justify their overperforming stuff, which basically makes it a non-starter as a point.

Could just as easily say “the chinese pilots are superior in skill to the french ones, since given the same vehicle, they perform better”, which would reinforce the fact of how broken the rafale is.

Both Mk.1 and Mk.2 use GaN.

Are you sure? One of the benefits of GaN AESA radars is supposedly to be able to simultaneously jam while operating air to air/surface modes and I believe ECRS Mk2 offers that over the Mk1.
