Funny story about that actually, Ive recently come to the realization that Britain and Germany are counterparts in-game, and ironically enough, gaijin seems to hate both nations.
The EFT being a joint project is sort of a double whammy on that point, and seems to put it in the uniquely unenviable position of having a dev target on its back.
That being said, “the devs hate X nation” is not a super productive discussion to have, nor do we reallyu have anything but anecdotal evidence of that theory.
Captor-E ECRS Mk2: Interface and integration of the radar to the aircraft by BAE Systems.[21] AESA antenna, the T/R modules are made with GaAs and GaNHEMT HPA (gallium arsenide and gallium nitride High Electron Mobility Transistor High Power Amplifiers). This enables efficient multi-tasking of radar tracking use and electronic warfare simultaneously.[23] It is installed on a pivot derived from the one used on the Gripen E with the Selex ES-05 Raven radar. The wider bandwidth meant that a new radome was needed.[24]
Are you by any chance confusing Mk1 and Mk2 with Mk0 and Mk1/2
No, it even says it right there for Mk2 where the GaN “allows multi-tasking of radar tracking use and electronic warfare simultaneously”. I believe the brochure for the Mk2 also shows this. Perhaps Mk1 uses some GaN but not extensively, not sure.
From what I’m reading here the Mk1 is supposed to be mixed GaAs and GaN. Mk2 is supposed to be fully GaN, Rafale is also stated to be moving its RBE2 over to GaN in the Rafale F4.2 allowing for simultaneous jamming and radar search/tracking.
I need @Flame2512 to drop the Mk2 brochure to show again what it says.
According to this article the Mk.1 is pretty much supposed to be a Mk.0 but with GaN T/R modules instead of GaAs and a digital receiver, at least in stage 1.
So the Mk.1 at first will be like the Mk.0 except better range and SAR resolution (necessitated by the Luftwaffe’s requirements fulfilled by the new GaN modules). Hensoldts page for the radar also says that it has new modules resulting in better performance over the Mk.0 and turns it from a “classic fighter radar” into a “true multi-functional system” capable of “ESM and EA”.
Stage 2 (planned for 2028) will add offensive EW and improve performance trough a new processor/software updates.
And where are you reading that the Mk.1 is supposed to be mixed and the Mk.2 fully GaN?
The wiki and the article says the opposite…
It’s astonishing how base level knowledge about aircraft like the Captor-M being a great radar to bridge the gap between AESA and mechanical radars being completely ignored by Gaijin.
How do you manage this, as whenever i fly out of the targeting pods gimble the aim resets and so it no longer guides the missile in, either that or it delocks meaning i have to manually guide it in for the last 5 seconds while dodging 4 missiles comign at me? I keep trying and cant see to find the correct key series or key binds. Any tips would be welcome as my best bet is to fly above their radar and fire from above until i can come in closer.
A tutorial would be even better, or a link to one of your videos with a good example.
so I see the SPEAR 3 is an internal report wonder if that means there is an actual chance of it comming or not, because that is a LOT of missing weapons
You know… They did the exact same thing to Germany right? They gave the Japanese Alpha Jet the C.20 engines while the German Alpha jets have the C.6 engines, despite all of them being upgraded to C.20.
