I know I know

But this from after the fact/update.

My “guess” was from before the update …

Spoiler

I’m not sure what the tag was about then.

After it was raised yesterday to ask about the fix it was checked and expanded to all missiles with an FoV IRCCM.

It was a little light-hearted joke and the tag was to … Well … “share the joke with you” …

Only missiles that dont use suspension tracking IRRCM though?

So no changes to the 9M

I mean it’s a correction of gatewidth IRCCM systems so i don’t see why there should be changes to track supension IRCCM missiles.

Exactly so it’s a buff to R-73 and Magic 2…
While Aim9M gets no improvements, none of the accepted bug reports actioned.

I don’t know why you go into every thread and moan you got to threads that have nothing do with the topic at hand. You should be know by now there is no rhyme or reason to how stuff gets implemented there are bug reports like 6 years ago that are yet to materialise

And R-27T/ET, PL-5EII, PL-8B

While I do not agree with Gaijin sitting on reports for years as a “balancing factor” (or perhaps not wanting to spend money to hire enough devs so that reports don’t sit in the queue for several years), AIM-9M is not that terrible either, at least in SB, thanks to its smokeless motor.

They probably should remove the missile markers mechanic from RB, as it’s disproportionally disadvantageous for missiles with smokeless motors.

Just more buffs to Gaijins favourite jet. Magic 2 was already a fantastic missile did it need a buff?

9M isn’t terrible but at the ranges you want to use it the having it properly modelled would be nice.
I hadnt factored in the R-27ET thats going to be nasty

To be fair, the question isn’t “Did Magic 2 need it” but instead the question is, do current missiles using gatewidth irccm need it? I would argue yes for several reasons.

  1. Chinese mains had been asking for the PL-8B to be converted from gatewidth irccm to suspension tracking IRCCM as many had regarded the suspension tracking irccm to be superior. This alleviates the issue somewhat.

  2. Russian mains had been asking for a better IR missile in the form of RVV-MD which the developers had commented on, but it is too soon for that to be added, and so a buff to the R-73/R-27ET also alleviates this issue.

  3. The Rafale can only carry 2 Magic 2s and so the impact of the buff would be fairly limited compared to a buff to AIM-9M which can be carried in greater numbers on other platforms. (Not that I don’t think AIM-9M shouldn’t get a buff).

The big winners of this change are mainly Russian/Chinese vehicles, especially the Su-30SM which can carry a great number of R-27ETs/R-73s.

They are and Russia want a better IR missile…They literally have their in service IR missile!
R-73M and R-74 are not in service as of yet.

Problem I see is lower BR aircraft use these missiles, Su-25 has R-73s and now they are improved
and Mirages and Jaguars use Magic 2s at lower BRs.

Flaring any IRCCM missile is as much luck as it is judgement sometimes you dump flares right in the line of occular and they ignore them. Other times you panic flare and they miss.

R-27ET being a fire and forget long range IR missile with improved IRCCM is going to be very scary.

Just give the 9M some love Gaijin or add the ASRAAM as thats how the R-27ET is going to now perform like.

I’ve gotten smin to nudge some of the 9M reports but the issue is their seemingly selective actioning of certain reports. Some I get might be more complicated. Like 9Ms push ahead functionality. But others like 9M lock ranges or SRAAMs actual range which has been reported the better part of 3 years ago for both, still not being fixed is just frustrating.

Some reports get fixed within a week (or even like a brimstone report not long ago, within a few hours) but others sit for years without reason or explanation.

Gate width getting buffs is fine, but when 9Ms can barely be called all-aspect due to lock range issues that were widely brought up back when the Gripen was added still hasn’t been fixed it’s just infuriating
