Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

I saw a bit of defyns dev server stream. Does it really use the same 30mm as the french helicopters? That thing will be almost unusable in gunfights

It uses a related development of the M781 30mm gun, but instead of firing 30x113mm at lower fire rates, it fires 30x150mm at much higher fire rares.

Haven’t gone on dev server yet but it’s likely they just copypasted the Tigre gun over.

The 8 MICA report is already closed as not a bug.

Right after I posted it it seems. Kinda bs considering the sources

It was a pretty sound post I think, with actual evidence. You can search for these images, they all predate 2021, and thus predate the entire Rafale F4.1 yet have the MICA underneath the wingtip. But no, “some dudes said so, so its fake”

The cockpit proves the presence of the pylons under the wingtip, as well as the dual center pylons. The other Rafales shown are F3s. F4.1 always had FSO so the one on Dassault’s website cannot be one, plus that image is from 2018.

Then there’s this F3.4

Hope to see OSF buffed, I like IRST, one question I have however is does the LRF alert LWS Systems when ranged?

And is 100km the highest figure we have.

@WreckingAres283 Do you have any good info on the RWR bands for the Rafale

I also found this. Its from 2009:

And this from 2011:

I might give it another go. Despite the rather unjust feeling shutdown of the last report with better structure maybe it will work.

I’ve shared relevant Docs with Tech-Mods, wont post any of this here.

Right now it feels like the Rafale loses speed way too quickly.
It pulls a ton but then it pretty much is going to fall like a leaf.

But this is just first dev server, there is still a chance for FM changes.

The 17G sustained turns are pretty weird

For the Rafale?
Canard coupling is the closest on the Rafale compared to the Eurofighter and Gripen,
I don’t think 17G is too weird.

Rafale should have the best absolute pull out of the three, as well as the best one-circle performance.
Eurofighter’s canards are far-coupled which is great for adjusting airflow through the wing and minimizing energy loss. It comes at the expense of absolute AOA but it isn’t bad by any means.

Gripen sits in-between the Rafale and Eurofighter.

Rafale is still losing too much speed though currently.

17Gs is absurd, even with the weird war thunder ARB G force multipliers being able to pull and sustain 17Gs without ripping is something a lot of planes can’t even do in arcade.

It should have good pull but likely max out at 14-15Gs, 17Gs is crazy.

god please don’t let the Rafale get the Flanker treatment…

currently as of the current dev server version, the rafale cannot super cruise at mach 1.4 with six mica’s, tested it at half 25% fuel and only got to around Mach 1.05

Actually, it is to b e expected it ends up at 17. Gripen IRL could achieve 12, in game it can achieve 14 (or more, if you want to throw it around way too much), and rafale should be able to achieve more than it from a structural and design standpoint (don’t know if it is limited/rated lower). Given the game makes these limits a bit arbitrary, 17 is relatively easy to expect, with the +/- 1.5x. Gripen is also kind of an outlier in how low it is compared to where it ought to be.

To be entirely fair, Rafale’s airframe can sustain up to 11G irl.
And in War Thunder planes usually have up to 1.5 times the G tolerance, you get 16.5G which is close to what Rafale is pulling right now.

Maybe it is “close enough” to WT standards but I don’t expect it to come to live like this, likely nerfed like the Gripen was for G pull
