Part of the issue with the rafale will be how “AESA” works in game, where it updates the target every 0.04 seconds (0.022 for russian ESA apparently, for some reason.). What will happen is when the missile is launched, the “update” will begin to update the (faster approaching) missile, causing it to entirely lose the jet until the radar scans back over it when it should have just created another track when the velocity disparity got too high.
Basically, your radar thinks what it’s tracking is that same jet.
Since EFT and SU30SM were able to shoot through IRST only until very recently but not the rafale, it looks like there’s a somewhat different code between the rafale and other planes. Maybe by « fixing » the EFT and SU30 bug they broke radar->IRST, but the rafale using a different code was left alone
Yeah thjs change happed recently having the same issue on the Typhoon it is back to how it was before
What seemed to allow the Eurofighter to fire in IR mode before was something to do with GMTI mode that it got same with the Su-30 which is why the Rafale didn’t do it
So it seems they just reverted the whole fire in IR when it makes you switch to it
I know i am a bit late but here is an analysis of Sindor made by an ex rafale pilote in the french navy.
Hope it can share some light on what happend that night.
