On dev it was 10km maximum lock range yes, but it may be buffed once on live, at least the E2/L: Community Bug Reporting System
I did a couple of test with laser bombs (paveways at least) a couple months ago, I could get near maximum detection range (~3km+to the target) on the bombs when designating from close nearby <<10km, but when designating from far, say 15km+, the bombs did not pick up the laser easily and maybe only at <<1km detection range from the target, which is often too late. Here are examples:

So to reflect the real life ability the best, the laser detection range of the AGM-65E2/L would probably need to be set really high in the game stats, if the devs just put it at 28km instead, from long range launces, perhaps the missile will not detect the laser anyway and self destruct… May be worth bug reporting if it seemingly underperforms on the live server. Otherwise the missile has very little use over the IR guided ones.

The thing is that the barak II currently and the Baz 2000 are the worst 13.7 western designs overall, where the baz 2000 is only better than the J-11A. With a lack of TWS altogether, no HMD radar acquisition mode and no datalink at all, it would only make sense for it to be armed with python 4s. Indeed python 4s are better even than K-74 or earlier AIM-9X, but at this stage, even giving it a rediculous IRAAM will not change the fact that it is the bottom 5.

It’s still an F-16 (the Barak II). No need to make it even better in Air-to-Air. Both are plenty competitive already and extremely good CAS planes.
The python 4’s should come with their comparable IRAAM in other Tech Trees. Having 4 or more Aim-120’s is already a blessing.
