The EAP was a tech demo, and absolutely nothing else. It was never under any circumstances planned for service.

Exactly. One of the reasons why I’d wish we got European fighters.
Also an economic reason. It’s true we got them for nearly Gripen prices but if we got ANYTHING European then the money would’ve stayed closer to home.
A little bit the reason why importing in general is not preferred in economies. From a Dutch perspective it would’ve been an import but from a European one it would’ve been a domestic thing. In the big picture the economies are so intertwined that an import from the US is not the same as an import from another EU country.

Saddly a vehicle passed to dev mean nothing at all. It can come next update, 4 years later, or never.
It just mean Dev are aware this thing exist, globally.

Even if you got them at Gripen price, i doubt the flying hour price (wich is way higher than any other choices) gonna help in the long run.

yeah it flew mach 1.09. Only weapons are missing to add it. Maybe someone finds one day a drawing where they would be mounted

the vak would be less interesting tbh. It was planned to only carry 2 bombs and rockets iirc. It was mainly build for dropping nukes

It’s not like we advocate for an European army/ stronger link without the US since decades.
