This suggestion is about how the Island of Cyprus in its regular size and not scaled down would be perfect for the higher battle ratings in Simulator Air Battles because current top tier maps are extremely small and end in spawn camping very fast. As a map Cyprus would be around the size of the NE map. Lets go see what makes Cyprus a perfect candidate for ASB (and not only).
Short History of the Island
Spoiler
Prehistory (c. 13,000–1050 BC)
Hunter-gatherers reached the island around 13,000–12,000 years ago (possibly as early as ~14,000 years ago according to recent demographic models). Sites like Aetokremnos show early activity, and the arrival of humans coincides with the extinction of endemic dwarf hippos and elephants. Permanent farming villages appeared by ~8500–7000 BC (e.g., Khirokitia/Choirokoitia, a UNESCO site with circular stone houses). Copper working developed in the Chalcolithic period (~3900–2500 BC), giving the island its later economic importance (the name “Cyprus” is linked to copper). The Bronze Age saw urbanization, trade, and Mycenaean Greek settlement from ~1200–1100 BC, beginning the Hellenization of the island and the rise of city-kingdoms.Classical and Hellenistic periods (c. 1050–30 BC)
City-kingdoms (often listed as ten) flourished under successive influences: Phoenicians, Assyrians, Egyptians, and Persians. Cyprus became part of the Persian Empire. Alexander the Great freed it in 333 BC. After his death it passed to the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt.Roman and Byzantine eras (30 BC–1191 AD)
Rome annexed Cyprus in 58 BC; it became a prosperous senatorial province. Christianity arrived early (Apostles Paul and Barnabas). After the division of the Roman Empire it remained under Byzantine (Eastern Roman) rule. Arab raids began in the mid-7th century; a period of shared Byzantine–Arab control followed until full Byzantine reconquest in 965.Medieval period (1191–1571)
Richard the Lionheart of England conquered the island in 1191 during the Third Crusade and sold it to the Knights Templar, who quickly transferred it to Guy of Lusignan. The French Lusignan dynasty established a feudal Kingdom of Cyprus (1192–1489). Venice took control in 1489. Ottoman forces conquered the island in 1570–1571 after sieges of Nicosia and Famagusta.Ottoman and British rule (1571–1960)
Ottoman rule lasted more than three centuries and introduced a substantial Turkish Muslim population. In 1878 Britain assumed administrative control (while the island remained nominally Ottoman); Britain formally annexed it in 1914 and made it a Crown Colony in 1925. Greek Cypriots increasingly sought enosis (union with Greece); Turkish Cypriots favored continued British rule or taksim (partition). The EOKA guerrilla campaign against British rule ran from 1955 to 1959.Independence and division (1960–present)
The Republic of Cyprus became independent on 16 August 1960 under a power-sharing constitution between Greek and Turkish Cypriots, guaranteed by Britain, Greece, and Turkey. Britain retained two Sovereign Base Areas (Akrotiri and Dhekelia). Intercommunal violence erupted in 1963–64. In July 1974 a Greek junta-backed coup aiming at enosis triggered a Turkish military intervention. Turkish forces occupied roughly the northern third of the island. A ceasefire line (the Green Line / UN buffer zone) has divided the island ever since; Nicosia remains the last divided capital in Europe. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was declared in 1983 and is recognized only by Turkey. The internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus (Greek Cypriot-led, controlling the south) joined the European Union in 2004. UN-sponsored reunification talks have continued intermittently without a final settlement. The island remains strategically important at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with a long history of successive cultures layered on a predominantly Greek-speaking south and Turkish-speaking north.
The geographic profile of Cyprus is very interesting. Also they could pic smaller aereas and make maps for ARB and AAB.

- Location and size: Cyprus is an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, roughly 65–70 km south of Turkey and about 100 km west of Syria. It is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean (after Sicily and Sardinia), covering 9,251 km². It has a roughly oval shape with a long, narrow northeastern peninsula (the Karpas Peninsula).
- Terrain: The island is dominated by two mountain ranges separated by a central plain. The Troodos Mountains cover much of the south and west and include the highest point, Mount Olympus (also called Chionistra), at about 1,951–1,952 m. The narrower Kyrenia (Pentadaktylos) Range runs parallel to the northern coast, rising to around 1,024 m. Between them lies the fertile Mesaoria Plain. Coastal plains exist along parts of the southern shore, and the coastline (about 648 km) mixes rocky sections with sandy beaches.
- Climate: It has a classic Mediterranean climate — hot, dry summers (typically June–September) and mild, rainy winters (November–March), with short transitional seasons in spring and autumn. Rainfall is higher in the mountains and more variable year to year; the plains can be quite arid in summer.
- Water and resources: Rivers are mostly seasonal (the longest is the Pedieos/Pedhieos, roughly 100 km), flowing mainly after winter rains. There are numerous dams and reservoirs for water storage. Historically important natural resources include copper (the island’s name is linked to it), along with gypsum, marble, and timber.
Geographically Cyprus sits at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, which has shaped both its landscape and its long history.
How i Imagine the map for ASB.
Spoiler
- Airfield #1 will be a primary airfield like the one we have in NE. Airfield #1&2 will be secondary ones.
- Air Defense Sites will be Multiple Spaas together in style like we had in the SEAD event or the ones in NE, whatever is more balance.
- Oil Rig/Factories will be bases like the Deep strike event when you need more munitions to get destroyed and they had their own personal short range air defenses, the oil rigs will have ship around them for protection. And because they are harder to kill you will get more rewards.
- Helicopter Pad will be spawns only helis can spawn so they are closer to the main objectives, if they get destroyed they can spawn from the airfields and Fleets too
- Fleet #1 will be a battle group with a aircraft carrier but less ship to protect it but Fleet #2 will be more protected but aircrafts wont be able to spawn there, only helicopters. The fleets will have multiple ships so they have a better protection and more targets for players to destroy ( naval helis would be useful here)
- Regular bases are the classic bases we have
- And the middle of the map will be multiple convoys and battle groups fighting so Helis and other planes have plenty of targets to hit.
this type is for top tier with advance missiles and more modern stand off weapons in the future, for lower brs a more simple map will be easier
Why would Cyprus be a good map for ASB?
Current Top Tier ASB maps are small for modern fighter jets. The biggest current maps are 128x128km

(Current EC Map Size - #2 by Schindibee)
and who ever played even a single top tier ASB game can say that the games ends up in spawn camping or that he doesn’t have enough ground targets to attack. Also with the addition of more and more advance weaponry that we will probably see in the future and especially with the addition of 5th gen aircraft. So all points that we need bigger maps and Cyprus is perfect, it has the size it has interesting topology its surrounded by sea that you can put a lot of naval targets on them. Overall i believe that bigger maps are they way for sim to continue and so i suggest Cyprus.
- Yes
- No
