Welcome to the suggestion for the CV90105 TML! If you’ve been playing War Thunder for a few years, this may look familiar, and it indeed was in-game until the “Drone Age” update in 2022, where it was replaced with the current model we have in-game due to some historical inaccuracies. These are notably it having a stabilizer and commander’s thermals, which it was not fitted with in real life, though it did have an option for a stabilizer should a buyer want one. However, I think with its inaccuracies corrected, it could still be a decent addition for the Swedish tree, and bring back an old face to the game.

An early CV90, 1980s.

Developed in the 1980s, the CV90 was created as a vehicle capable of fulfilling the tactical and strategic needs of its users, while remaining modular enough to be used for nearly any role, in any environment. This it did well, being fitted with a variety of autocannons even early on in its development, ranging from 25 mm cannons to the famous Bofors 40 mm. It entered service with Sweden in 1994, and would see deliveries to the Norwegian Army the same year.

In keeping with the multirole use for the chassis, the designer of the CV90, Hägglunds, worked with the French company GIAT to conceptualize a light tank variant of the CV90 using existing components. The result was the CV90105 TML, a vehicle that used GIAT’s TML 105 turret combined with Hägglunds’ CV90 chassis. The TML 105 turret housed a 105 mm G2 gun, designed to be compatible with NATO 105 mm tank ammunition. It was paired with a SOPTAC 11 gunner’s sight with thermal imaging, and used the Galix self-defense system, with 7× smoke grenades on each side of the turret, four at the front, and three at the rear. The turret came with an option for a stabilizer, but it seems to have not been fitted to the prototype produced.

The CV90105 TML was showcased in June of 1994 at the Eurosatory arms fair, and underwent testing, but ultimately no customers would ever show interest in it. This wasn’t the end for the CV90105 concept though. In 2014, incidentally 20 years after the original version being showcased, a new CV90105 equipped with the Belgian Cockerill company’s XC-8 105HP turret was showcased at Eurosatory. However, with a little over a decade having passed since then, it appears the revitalized CV90105 is to meet the same fate as its predecessor, with no countries expressing interest thus far.

Agreed, it needs to come back, shouldn’t be banished due to incompetence in its implementation.

Fix it up, put it in the tech tree after the Ikv 91-105 and were good!

But if I am not mistaken its got no Stabilizer so maybe before!

It was sold with the option of adding a stabilizer iirc.

Pray it comes with it when they reintroduce it!

Absolutely. It never should’ve been removed, it should’ve just been fixed to its real-life state and lowered to an appropriate BR. But since it has been removed, might as well put it in the tech tree.
