Ammunition and ordinance has always been used as a balance tool. There are A LOT of vehicles in the game that don’t have all of their historical munitions.
Its statements like these that makes me less excited about the game tbh.
Light tanks in top tier rely heavily on quirky features and if it cant even have that then what’s the point, haha.
It’s a odd double standard considering KF41 exists with all the features cv90mk4 should probably have and it makes me worried that all future CV90MK4 variants will not feature airburst rounds either???

Because they dont want to add the tracking system for the CV90s. It is not IRST, therefore it cant be added alongside IRST systems

LVKV actually had IR tracking in one of the technical demonstrators so it got it in game as well.
Maybe it’s time they should make those sights work then?
If not IR tracking then they should make some (limited) form of functionality for the sight… We’ve got a lot of CV90s in the game and there are plenty left to add.
Instead of an IR lock you have to follow the air target and it’ll calculate a firing solution and lead for you.
did find this post and it was 2 years ago where UTAAS sight was discussed also.
The funtion that the sight actually had is automatic lead by itself, which isnt a thing in the game, for tracking you needed the upgraded module, btw automatic lead is something missing for a lot of vehicles the cv90 are nothing special on this part.
yes but now i’m suggesting fixing automatic lead and not target tracking.

There is nothing to “fix” as it is not a feature… also it funtionality against aircrafts is questionable as you need to manually keep the sight on target
I’ve discussed the UTAAS sights at length. (At some point i was even one of the sources google AI used to explain how the sight works, i’m not sure if i still am and i’m not sure if i should laugh or cry about that fact… xP )
More like a new feature we want them to add, the UTAAS sight CAN track targets, just not using video. It uses laser range finder to make the difference in elevation + horisontal turn and range into sort of a “cruise control” where it just keeps changing at the same speed as calculated between two laser bursts. Biggest difference to video tracking is that if the target change speed or turns the “tracking” will not follow and just keep going as if the target never turned/changed speed.
Like i said what youre describing is automatic lead, that’s not tracking perse, the tracking keeps to be done manually, and like i said there a lot of vehicles missing this, automatic traking and automatic leading are separated things
No, the automatic lead calculates the speed and direction of the target to “pre-aim” the gun so the shot lands where the target will be once the shell gets there. What i describe makes the gun sight follow the target, i.e. tracking.
Fully aware, the CV90 has both. It actually has two modes, one for where the cv90 is moving and the target is static and one for where the target moves and the cv90 is static.
The sight needs to be updated by the gunner. Literally on the same video shows how he manually need to keep the sight on target, there is no traking there, just atomatic leading, what the static mode does is just keeps the sight on a designtaed positions.

No, the gunner only does minor manual adjustments, the main direction and speed (calculated between the two lases) is automatically held by the FCS.
I’ve seen comments online (but sadly zero concrete proof) that the newer versions also have a “pulse” mode on the laser so that it shoots a couple of lasers per second and automatically adjusts itself to smaller/medium changes in the target speed and direction. But so far i’ve only seen rumors and gunner testimonies and no real proof of that though.

same here, it would not be hard to make it do this though but it is never shown sadly.
Would wager with the tracking becoming more on par with standard practice, they no longer really have to go into specifics to sell it, so the best you’ll get is gunner testimonies.
