CV 90 MK.IV data and discussion

I’m very uncertain but i think they started to receive the first ones this summer. Though that is a sort of half speculation based on incomplete information from one article by the Swedish defence forces on the 17’th of June this year.

I suppose your right but why put the sleve on then?

IF it is XM913, then size is very different

I have no idea of there even is one, its just confusing as we’ve seen the same barrel be labeled different things.

But in general a slave/sheath could theoretically be for heat signature reduction or improving barrel cooling for example.

In same time…

I would like to ask if there is a 9040 carrying spikes or other anti tank missiles in reality. I only know that Bill is the only 9040 with missiles

BILL is the only 9040 version with ATGM (and that is also just a one of a kind prototype). General doctrine in Sweden has been to have soldiers in the back carrying AT weapons instead of mounting it on the vehicle itself. The 9040 is primarily a troop transport for frontline assaults. It’s a bit weird because it would technically fall under IFV because of the armor and armament but it is used mostly as a APC in practise but can be used as an IFV if needed (If i have understood things correctly).

Well, the classification of APC and IFV has two dependencies. As the manufacturer and documents call it.

Thing is, the CV9040 is according to that classification an IFV as it is armored, armed and lets the troops fire out of it like an IFV. but if i have understood things correctly an IFV is more ment to be a troop support during an assault and stay during the assault to continue fire support while the squad protects the IFV as well. The CV9040 is used more as a troop transport, it goes in, drop of the squad and leaves. It has the capability to act as an IFV normally would should the need arise.

So tldr: it is according to that classification an IFV but is in practise used more like an APC.

If i have understood things correctly on the doctrine.

Those classifications are just armament & protection capability based and not doctrine based.

Unless your the Philippines and call a certain vehicle a “wheeled tank”

Hoping for this beauty we “denmark” just orderd another 44. Of ithttps://www.fmi.dk/da/nyheder/2025/forsvaret-anskaffer-yderligere-44-nye-infanterikampkoretojer/

Not really in relation to the MK IV but there is no topic for the Swedish MK IIIC yet that i could find at least.

This is cool though:

Wierd not to go with yourown LEMUR system but this is very cool non the less. Your cv90s will pack a serious punch with the 35 arkeon and now 50s on the roof

Edit: for some reason i thought the LEMUR was .50 and not a chaingun

LEMUR can use different types of weapons, so you can rock the chain gun or a .50 if ya want, 40mm GL is also an option

These are not for the turreted CV90s, these are to replace the old VS01 currently mounted on turret-less CV90s since they are worn down and spare parts are hard to get for them.

I didn’t know there were still turretless CV90’s in use (i remember a recovery version but no idea if that is correct).

va fan, tjena Gustaf, förväntade mig inte att se dig här

there’s the recovery and an observer i think, but i think the system is going to be placed on the order from 2022

That being said, i’ve seen some sources mention that it’s also going to be placed on the IFV version, so who knows
FMV states it’s for 3 versions of the CV90 but doesn’t specify much further

Now, this isn’t directly regarding the Mk.IV, but considering CV9035NL.

With the base variants A/B having Stanag 4569 classification level 5 and the uparmored C & MK.IV having level 6.

I found it very weird that the 9035NL seemingly reaching neither.

Even letting the 2a42 AP-T & APDS (Which it is rated for) through and the armour viewer actually stating only around 25-35 MM protection against this ammunition type, And notice the armour viewing is actually set at 1000M, not the 500M the stanag level indicates the range at which it should shrug of this ammunition at the forward arc.

Is it a stealth nerf because i dont remember the armour being this shit ?
Or have they somehow upped the armor penetration of the 2a42 AP/APDS stealthily because the BMPT now can’t carry the APFSDS in its carousel ?

P.s Also sry for the brightness, i do not know why PrintScreen does this.
