CV 90 MK.IV data and discussion

Congrats, our dear snail very loves it.

  • CV90 MkIV (E30):
    • commander view zoom: 1.5x / 24x → 2.48x / 9.96x
    • three new armour holes were created:
      • small holes at the junctions of the UFP and lower side armour
      • larger holes at the upper corners of the hull rear
      • gaping hole so large your mum could fit through on the hull rear roof

also quick question regarding other CV 90 versions,
seems gajin ignoring the armour on them is not a thing only common to the mk 4

The change in zoom levels are really bad. Lowers the use of the vehicle in regard to scouting.

Have not played since the update but really , it would seem to me that a different zoom in commander view would assist with this.

As previously you had the same zoom on both gunner and commander.

Yes this is a recurring theme across all CV90 models unfortunately. Even if it were for balancing issues i still wouldnt understand why they would make it so a 12.7 or 14.5 mm would penetrate the front of the vehicle…

Because we can’t have shit playing Sweden except for some ikea leopards that it would take an act of divine ineptitude to get wrong (which I’m pretty sure still have some issues from memory). Most the tree has similar issues, or worse issues.

It’s such a shame as it is well documented that the cv90’s have protection levels in accordance with STANAG 4569 (30mm apfsds at 500M) in the frontal arc
And 14.5 mm all-round.

So understandably quite frustrating when a 25/30 apfs goes through your armor plating at 1+k with ease.

I have ordered 2 books on Cv90 so far, I will create a new Topic “CV90 Armour and Technology discussion” on Sunday where we can start collecting sources and have a more centralized space for discussions of all Cv90 variants

My latest bug report for reduced heat/IR signature is up, please help with votes. I will make another one tomorrow for one of the two remaining and the last on Sunday. Then i will begin to look for more books and materials.

I’m just hoping that we get the barracuda camo soon ^^

Thermal video of barracuda on a CV90

Thermals in general should be improved a lot IMO.

Instead of the current arbitrary gen 1, 2, 3, 3+ have it as the actual resolution by compressing the image in the sight down to the actual systems resolution. The vinette in the sight should also be removed for certain vehicles since lot thermals viewed on a sepparate flat-screened monitor rather than through an optical sight.

Explosions, fire and gunfire should blind thermals a lot more than it currently does. IRL whenever a tank gun fires the entire thermal sight lights up and flickers for a solid 1-2 seconds from all the heat which suddenly appeared obscuring your view, which only slightly exists in sim because of the fumes covering the sight. In realistic there’s nothing, just the tracer of your shell flying towards the target.

It will never not be funny that generally barracuda is really obvious the moment the vehicle with it is on a road because the thing does its job a little too well.

Thing is, a vehicle that cold could easily be interpreted as destroyed and abandoned if stationary even if its that visible on the road. That and any observer is going to be looking for hot things (or movement), not cold. So it’s still going to be effective either way, and good luck getting any IR tracking munition to lock onto it XD

This just wouldn’t work for gameplay purposes, most of have played CS or COD some time in our life right, and then sly gotten flashbanged.

If that is what would happen every time you’d fire a gun in-game you would have some injury liability issues coming your way.
Well maybe not but dear fudging lord it’d blind and piss people off on the regular, especially those using autocannon or coaxial weaponry.

Aye, didn’t mean it was bad, or didn’t work. Just that it’s funny if you know you’re looking for it how it does its job so well that to a layman it can be relatively easily spotted on thermal recordings, just because it’s so effective. Probably wasn’t written clearly, I was most of the way asleep when I wrote that. If you’re not aware you’re looking at a tank with the thermal blanket, or that a tank is there in the first place, wouldn’t assume it’s anything but another destroyed vehicle.

I recently unlocked it and have now had the chance to play 16 games so far. There are absolutely improvements that could (should) be made to it but it is by no means as bad as many make it out to be.

So i’m at a K/D ratio of 1.26 so far, with only a few modifications unlocked.

It works, but nothing works as well as it should. That’s the issue. We’ve known spikes before, we’ve known thermal sights and and the 30MM.

The issue is just that none of this works as it should.
The Weight is off, so even if we have a vehicle with a 1000bhp, it does not provide the mobility it should with to much weight doing nothing.

The issue is that the spikes are absolutely hit or miss (more miss than hit) and is the reason for its BR “spike” hurr Durr…

Yeah, you get my drift. It all works, but not at the level it’s supposed to, and that’s why we should continue.

I’m really appreciative of getting to see actual video of this vehicle in action, but do you think it’s a good idea to be posting content from that conflict on here? ^^"

Good luck finding any interesting footage though. Most of it is a brief drone view, one accidentally driving past for a fraction of a second and ones basically firing single shots of indirect fire. In an interview they said they have units which basically live stream everything they do, whereas others are completely radio silent. Unfortunately the CV90s got placed in one of those radio silent ones wheras the Bradley got placed in the live streaming ones, which is why we have tons of Bradley footage but barely and CV90 footage.
