CV 90 MK.IV data and discussion

could you plz make one for the KETF/ABM ?

Ok, we should throw all available sources in here so we can make it easier for whoever creates it, i will take a look at it during the weekend otherwise.

Does this statement hold any weight, considering who it is from?

the thing is tho that isnt the AA tracking built into the other commanders optic that’s on the adjustable mast?

Yes it does. I have had a prolounged discussion with moderators about this and we have shared documents left to right. The UTAAS is a modular sight and for the feature of IRST it needs an extension module both exterior (which can be seen on Danish and Dutch CV’s from time to time) and a module for the interior. The sight itself is a “Hybrid” search and track sight without, if i recall correctly. The computer can identify objects on the display for the gunner but the gunner need to put the reticle (aiming if you will) onto the target and continously lase it where the computer will automaticly lay the gun barrel. With other words its a hybrid system.

I was mainly thinking about the UTAAS sight and claims that all CV90s has basic anti-air capability

Awesome

Meaning they could decide to model this exterior module to CV90 mk.IV and add IRST function?

Since we don’t have this intricate system in game I think it’d be fair to add IRST as an approximation until it can be properly added. CV90s have been in game for many years now and it doesn’t seem like we’re any closer to functioning UTAAS hybrid mode as you call it

@ChefViken who do you normally PM to get your posts looked at? Id normally just ask WaretaGarasu since they are pretty good.

Yes they could add it as a module, wouldnt be that difficult but its more of a “do they want it”. Its also difficult getting hold of official documentation where i think is the main reason why its not implemented. Its not a question of “IF” it can use/have IRST its a question “if that model had/have it”.

Here are some interesting links.

I usually dont PM anyone, i typically write to them directly in PM instead of taking it in a public forum. I feel like you can have a better conversation that way :)

Me bug reporting that all Finnish WW 2 vehicles use the Swedish camos, i even say i dont want the Hikaristi on them and just the camo pattern.

Mod: instantly bans me for a month

I had to message Smin for an unban

Its a real struggle sometime.

Its why i stopped writing for Finnish bug reports, i have no interest if Mods cant bother to read my post

Here are some more interesting info about IRST for CV

Lvkv 90, en teknikdemonstrator - Issuu

“During the upgrade to TD 2, the gun computer was equipped with a tracker card to enable automatic target tracking with the IRV. The function demonstrated that the tracker feature provides significant assistance to the gunner in both the target acquisition and tracking phases.”

This is a laser distance, rotational-speed and trigonometry based tracking, not IR or Video.
The gunner basically lases the distance once, tracks target manually and then lase distance again and then the computer calculates the speed and direction of the object based on distance and turret turn-speed to continuously adjust the aim as if the object is continuing on the same trajectory. If the target turns or changes speed the “tracking” will be off and the shots will miss (if solid shot, proxy will still likely hit depending on circumstances).

This is not a function that is in the game yet as i understand it (but should be easy to implement).

Yeah, that’s the tech demonstrator that later became the LVKV that is already in the game (which is why that is the only CV90 that currently has IRST in the game)

Will repeat some images from above as they are under a spoiler and easily missed otherwise:

Good description, the gunner can also continuously lase the target (atleast for the more modern vehicles) if my memory serves me right but that ofcourse comes with other negative affects.

I think i’ve heard that as well, there is a “continuous lase” mode that measures the distance x times a second or something, the gunner still has to manually adjust though if the aim “slides” a bit (like lagging behind or moving ahead).

Precisely, the gunner still need to keep the “reticle” onto the target but can choose to use continuous lasing instead of manual.

I would describe as a way to automatically track the general area and approximate movement (more than the specific vehicle) that the gunner then fine tunes manually before shooting.
