I believe the players deserve an explanation as to why there is still not a Republic of China flag that can be used in the custom flag functionality

Update on my suggestion, it was denied a thread due to being seen as a bit of an unfocused bundle. I’ll be working with the suggestion moderator I DM’d to “un-bundle” it & re-apply.

Don’t forget the Nazi German war flag (not the national flag) is not only included in the selection but even the main option to represent Germany, while ROC is denied due to being an Army flag. They also have a precedent to swap it for the national flag (Japan got the WWII Army flag changed to the 1870-1999 national flag) as well, so even claiming Germany as a mistake doesn’t justify this.

It’s pretty simple, they don’t wanna touch the political and cultural crapfest going on with Taiwan province related matters, one wrong word and they lose a quarter of the playerbase or sth.

I’ve seen this repeated a lot but is it actually true? I don’t believe Gaijin publishes player demographics?
In any case it would be a problem of their own making, when they put the vehicles in the game it is only reasonable to have the accompanying flag as well.

Just a rough estimation of how many people on either side would be pissed.
The most I see that refers to the Chinese playerbase is like 1/3, and tbh I have absolutely no idea.

But they already have the RoC flag in game? They can just say “we’re adding this because WW2 China was RoC not PRC” and it’d be fine

Make in-match flags only visible for a user that chose them, it’s annoying. Idfc what agenda player has, I need to know the origin of a tank I’ll fight to know what he can bring with his lineup. That’s just confusing.

Exactly, people tend to forget it was also a historical flag (at one point the official flag of mainland China) and should be available on the same grounds as the flags of East Germany and Kingdom of Italy are.

I don’t believe the flags shown in the scoreboard have anything to do with other player’s choice of flag, I believe it shows the default operator flags and those are set by the game. You can however opt out of this feature and only see the national flags if you want.

Just turn off “Operator Flags shown in game” in the tool’s settings.

Yeah, but as I said, no matter what they do some people would still be pissed. So I’d say they are pretty wise about staying put and playing ostrich.

Wise if they care more about their wallets more than integrity, yes.
The idealist in me wants Gaijin to stand by their non-political stance and treat all the in-game operators to the same standard, even if a certain demographic is irrationally upset by this.
Maybe I’m naive for thinking or wishing that were possible.
