Stop being a back seat moderator then, learn to be in the wrong.
Irrevelant to the conversation.
So there is a special exception in the rules for UN member states, such as the Republic of China, that was a founding member of the UN and remained a member until losing the seat to the People’s republic of China in 1971.
That’s 26 years of UN membership, all within the timeframe of the game.
This rule is also how we go the ROC national flag decal.
Now it would be against this rule if a political statement was made, such as any specific Gaijin statement on the modern state of the Republic of China, since claims of their existence is disputed and they no longer hold any seat in the UN.
But with that said, the right neutral option to deal with a situation like this, is to allow both options and let players decide individually. Instead of forcing one opinion on players (an inherently political action), this would freely allow players of any political standing to feel represented. This is what neutral means.
Firstly, I have the right to have an opinion. And this is a public forum that allows the exchange of such opinion. And secondly, I am only informing you of the terms of service and community guidelines of the war thunder forums. You can choose not to follow if you want to. But I have the right to tell you when you are breaking the rules, even when I am not a mod. Thirdly, I do not believe I am in the wrong here. And this is simply an exchange of information. There’s no winners or losers here. This is true in any debate. The goal isn’t to humiliate anyone.
This is very much relevant, especially when he brought the topic of bad vehicles first
Well show me then, show me which terms of service rules I’ve broken ?
Guys you’re to debate the topic not the user if you want to carry on move it to DM’s if not leave each other alone !
I did, all I’ve said was pre-1949 RoC vehicles should have their proper flags, well thanks for @MAUSWAFFE now pre-1971, cheers for that info m8. But yeah then I got jumped on
Yea ok 👍
If there is any rule brakes please flag comments and it will be reviewed and if it indeed brakes the rules it will be removed!
Yes, you are, and so does everyone else. This is exactly what this topic is about, to allow players to freely express their opinion through this side customization.
What this opinion is, be it wanting to match the lineups, wanting to represent your home country, picking your favorite flag or even a political statement, is completely irrelevant so long as the customization is client side.
I agree Gaijin shouldn’t push politics, but deliberately limiting historical facts only to limit players from representing one political opinion is just that. To avoid politics, a historical nation such as the Republic of China should not be excluded.
probably the best idea so far
can you please tell the devs that the flags functionality will only spark political debate and anger on all sides? (as we are seeing in this thread) i suggest they botch completely the idea as we don’t need artificially introduced controversy in an already controversial envrioment such as war thunder, leave everything as it is in the actual live server.
I have no more access to the Devs than you guys do so I won’t be able to do anything of the sort !
My role and duties are on the Forums that’s it .
It was fine on the dev steam, most people in discords were making wacky memes with them. But now that not only have they bard naval and army flags but willing to scrub out the Republic of China name to just China, that where all kicked off. If they changed it back to what was shown in the dev stream I think most people wouldn’t mind that
To be fair it’s customization only.
There is nothing offensive about having optional customization, since there is always the option to simply not use something like the ROC flag when it’s there. It’s also purely client side, meaning nobody will see the customization other players have selected.
The issue starts when you exclude options. Imagine for example the PRC flag was suddenly removed, forcing players from mainland China to choose another option rather than their own flag when playing their nations vehicles. This would be a highly political decision, and call for understandable backlash.
So the real best solution is just to include all national flags of a tech tree, then let each player pick which one they prefer.
Can I just say, isn’t it weird how gaijin has only done what couple of seconds/a min at best in the dev stream but yet no blog, no statement nothing. Almost as if it would cause trouble so they hoped to move it at the start of the stream so hopefully everyone would forget about it.
Can we ask for this topic to be moved to game discussion now that the update is arriving tomorrow?
Tomorrow we will see if gaijin cares more about being apolitical or monetary gain.
I might also make a topic dedicated to the ROC flag as well, just in case things are worse tomorrow.
