In game we’re given limited options in terms of convergences for aircraft, especially those with wing mounted armament, with either no convergence all the way up to 800m with vertical targeting. I suggest that instead of having these basic adjustments, aircraft should be able to create custom convergences that are adjusted and created with a GUI interface similar to the loadout options that are then added to the list of convergences. Similarly, the U.S. Army handbook of convergences shows that it isn’t like what we have in game, as the guns are instead staggered vertically as well to have a firing arc where the rounds are in a rectangular ‘box’ pattern instead of the pinpoint we have with our current convergence setup meaning there should be some relative freedom in terms of how you want the guns pointed.
in terms of using the feature and applying it in terms of UI.
I suggest having a graphical image of a fighter from the rear, as seen similar to above, but this would be your ‘target.’ There is a slider to illustrate range and you would place points along the image corresponding to each gun on your plane, and whatever range you set on your slider is where you want the pattern or ‘convergence’ to occur at for each gun. For example. You could make half of the .50’s on a P-47 converge at 400m and then have the inboard guns converge at 200m. Making it where at closer ranges you have a flat ‘blanket’ of fire.
This gives a unique strength to aircraft with multiple wing mounted guns by being able to customize their field of fire. Such as Hurricanes and American fighters.
