Currently spading coastal. Any reason not to leave full uptiers in the 3.3~ range?

At that point, it seems you don’t really need to play. At all. 4.3 destroyers on most maps just annihilate you instantly, most ships aren’t coastal and those who are are the Russian Pr.206 types who just instantly annihilate basically any other coastal vessel the moment they see it.

Are you only playing a coastal lineup, or do you mix in the low BR bluewaters?
(I wouldn’t bring any bluewater if you’re focusing on coastal)

Most of my coastal battles are lots of bots so as long as I stay within the islands/small sections the destroyers hardly matter (and there are usually lots of coastal vehicles to get).

I’m also around the 3.3 BR and haven’t really seen any Russian/Soviet 4.3 … but, if you’re meeting them then it is pointless playing that battle.

Genuinely all of the Russian/Soviet Pr coastal boats are OP. So much balance is needed in naval.

Only Coastal, nothing else. Most of my games are uptiers to 4.3 anyway. :(

Are you on 3.3 or higher?

Ambushes utilizing terrain as cover

I think it is a mistake to only use Coastal, even if that is what you are concentrating on - having a couple of blue-water in your lineup gives you flexibility to deal with situations where your coastal is struggling - which seems to be thh case with the OP.

You don’t have to use them of course, but it is always better to have options and not use them than to need them and not have them!!

True. If I’m in a "let’s try to win, or at least do maximum effectiveness, I like having lineups with flexibility (which is why I think in a game where you get random maps and players they should provide more free crew slots to put in more variety of vehicles – but that is a different story).

But, if you’re intent on advancing coastal then I think the time playing bluewater in a coastal struggle match would be better to just play out the coastal quickly and get in to another game.

Nope, still 3.3. I’m specifically avoiding the 3.7 to avoid uptiers as much as possible until I have no choiche.

@Josephs_Piano Kinda sabotages the point of spading coastal, if you can fill your entire line up with coastal. At 3.7 for example one can fit in a destroyer at least for Germany because there are only 2 3.7 ships and you don’t uptier them anymore.

But it honestly feels more sensible, efficient and beneficial to just straight up leave full uptiers and take the lockout over playing it.

A couple of years ago the problem was only SKR-7 which had to be at BR 5.0, but then Russian players cry if they don’t have at least one OP vehicle now… Instead now it’s the entire Rank 5 of the Russians that has to be increased by +0.3 BR… The naval game at its current level is literally unbalanced in favor of the Russians

playing coastal is in general a mess. Since the aimbot update on nearly every map shooting from bluewater spawn to coastal spawn is possible and needs no target acquisition time (like prev. to the aimbot). In addition the pos. of the gunners view was lifted up in a way that most islands didn’t provide any cover - one gets targetted by ships which barely can’t see their target or neither see the splashes. Some player mention “hey thats arcade” but from my pov some realism must be present even in this mode. If not we might also get torps tunneling islands in the future…
Another point is that small waving boats can precisely target planes in several km distance with their 40mm bofors or even smaller calibers. Not to mention the ridicoulos precision of the no-name bots which still isn’t fixed - sometimes they kill planes by gunfire right after spawning. And last but not least the guided missiles vs. WW2 planes which often make the match to a non-flight zone.
Sorry for getting ot
