Current self moderation model is unreasonable

There, what did I told you

Sorry, but your reply is based on false assumptions due to the following:

  1. The tech mods active on the bug report site are regular players like you and me. They are doing this for free as volunteers and are no actual staff. Despite i had overwhelming positive exchanges with those guys, proving that they are highly passionate players, their power ends at some point and looks extremely limited as soon as sensitive areas like economy and game mechanics are questioned or affected.
  2. If some weapons have issues with damage output it is of course a bug in the classical sense and not gameplay related. The only question is if the issue with the weapon is intended or not.
  3. There is actually no debate with gaijin regarding game mechanics in place. You will find a hell of gaijin feedback regarding specific details of some vehicles, but you find extremely rare replies or actions regarding game mechanics when long existing flaws play a role or only players suffer.
  4. The most obvious things which come to my mind are that gaijin fixed xp farming harriers (abusing landing / take-off RPs in endless loops) within days, but it took years to see some actions regarding teamkilling in Air RB (changes are announced).

Someone flagged my Grumpy Cat pic in the Coelian Thread ;c

I think the self moderation is bad.
Posts are getting hidden as ‘off topic’ simply because people disagree.

It makes reading threads difficult. I find I have to click hidden posts to see if they are actually spam/off topic or simply a different point of view of the mob. So really it has no value.

Rule 3.6: not allowed to discuss “errors or other flaws” in the game on this forum. If someone is flagging posts, they have a lot of leeway with that rule in place.

It would be nice for forum mods to tell us if the number of people who need to flag your post to hide it is still the default of 3 or if they have changed that value. Is it 1? Is it 5?

I am also interested in an answer to this question as my personal record is now 140 seconds between posting and flagging/hiding.

In addition it would be great to see if there are any punishments for players flagging posts which were later assessed by mods as “ok” - so in case they just didn’t like your opinion / pov…

These are the default settings. What happens when you flag a post - Using Discourse - Discourse Meta

Also note flagged posts that aren’t hidden disappear by default after 30 days.

Also worth reading: Discourse Moderation Guide - Site Management - Discourse Meta. If the moderators disagree or overrule community flags that user’s ability to flag others can gradually lessen.

On a forum like this, allowing players to self-moderate is a terrible idea. If you want an easy example, go see the TO demand thread that ole’ S-Monger revived from the dead to continue. The large majority of posts in there that are hidden are those that question and criticize the TO advocates’ positions, and have been flagged because the TO crowd doesn’t like being held to account.

Allowing such a feature was a complete mistake. Simple as.

Although i stayed neutral in this discussion i have to admit that the tread itself had a very high entertaining value. But regarding flagging i did not see a tendency for one party or side to be better than the other…

Anyway i do fully agree that the current state of things regarding community flagging is not really a good idea - basically it can be seen as anonymous denunciation aimed to silence deviating opinions…

Oh hey, it’s you. I definitely was one of the people that flagged your rule breaking posts.
No abusive use of the flag feature from me, and you even admit to having violated rules in the flagged posts.
Not sure why you’re so upset.

There’s nothing in the new as-of-April forum rules that says you can’t accuse the company collectively of something. That’s a change from before. Now it only says you can’t “insult the administration in person.” (3.1.2). Bit of a change from before. So… which rule do you think was broken here?

In this thread I see a hidden Zucc_Boi post that says “reporting bugs can get you banned.” That is all the post says, but that is only a factual statement, a direct quote of rule 3.6 in fact. So we’re at the point where we’re hiding factual statements we just don’t like now? Was that one of the ones you hid?

That is not what Zucc did. He insulted staff, along with espousing other insults with colorful language toward members of both staff and the playerbase.

Clearly a fellow player felt Zucc’s posting of a lie felt was unacceptable.
BTW, do you always have issues thinking lies are facts? Or just this one time?
Zero people have been banned for reporting bugs.
