CRV Block II : Inaccurate, Overshadowed, and Ultimately Redundant

Do we know for certain that the CRV can survive ammo detonation? All I can find is this from a Lance 2 brochure

Designed to maintain the operational capabilities of the
crew and systems the turret has a multi-layered protection
structure and separates the crew from weapons and
ammunition.

It could mean that the crew is safe from detonation or just that they are physically separated from the ammunition itself without proper protection in place.

Bug report for the AMAP-ADS has been accepted.

Btw for anyone who is planning to play and spade this IFV I can only recommend to play it at top tier. Trust me its more fun than 10.7.

It’s kind of hard to find any primary sources that directly mention a pretection against ammo detonations:

It’s all just Rheinmetall reiterating the same point over and over again that the crew is seperated from the ammunition but they never state that it can survive a detonation specifically.

Damn that sucks. If the ammo didn’t explode when hit this thing would be much more survivable

The turret of the CRV Block II needs to be changed. First of all, the CRV Block II is a tall vehicle, and the turret it has makes the vehicle even taller, making it much easier for the enemy to spot it. The vehicle is so tall that you can’t even hide behind rocks. Another downside is that this vehicle has a manned turret. The vehicle has a total of 3 crew members, and 2 crew members inside the turret die with the smallest hit, leading to the loss of the entire vehicle.

This vehicle currently has the Lance 2 turret, which is produced by Rheinmetall. My suggestion is to replace this turret with the Turra 30 turret, also produced by Rheinmetall. This way, the 2 crew members inside the turret would be moved inside the vehicle, and hits to the turret wouldn’t result in the loss of the entire vehicle.

The Turra 30 turret is unmanned and also equipped with a 30mm Bushmaster MK44S cannon and the capability to launch SPIKE LR2 missiles. What Gaijin needs to do is simply replace the turret and increase the number of SPIKE missiles.

Not how this whole thing works, if anything it will be a new Boxer for germany.

but that was neither offered to aussies as far as i know nor do aussies operate this turret?

cool but they dont use that turret

that would be a rheinmetal only turret. Defence manufacturers should have their own stuff in the tree of their national origin. so that turret ought to go to germany

It wouldn’t be a CRV with a different turret. Australia only uses the LANCE turrets. With any other configuration, it would probably be in the German tree instead of the British one.

Also it’s not a LANCE 2, but a LANCE (1). The vehicle is based on the prototype that used the older LANCE turret (as did Block 1 CRV, but that had no SPIKE capability), rather than the actual Block 2 CRV that does have LANCE 2

Is the camouflage this bad or is my game not loading the skin properly? I have restarted my game multiple times.

Looks like it’s only loading one of the textures for the camo and keeping the rest as default green. The turret, SPIKE module and APS skirts are supposed have the same three colour camo as the hull.

Maybe try deleting the game’s Cache folder and see if it downloads the data properly next time you launch the game.

We all know by previous scandals that Gaijin has a very “selective blindness” on fixing things, decompression and economy included as well as vehicles. If anyone (not just you) genuinely thought Gaijin would implement this well, I dont know what to tell you.

Not going to lie i hoped this thing was going to be better.

The survivability is bad and the darts while having decent pen generate absolutely no spalling.
Should have sold it.

Its not the Block II tho. Its the demonstrator vehicle that went through considerable evolution before it became the block II.
Australia also did NOT buy the Strikeshield aps.

The post title ‘CRV Block II : Inaccurate’ refers to the designation in-game being wrong.

Also linked a bug report to this issue at the bottom of the original post as well

Early on they did think about getting an APS for their boxers but it was later dropped bc it didn’t fit into their mission requirements.

Even if, Australia was actually looking to get the Iron Fist APS in favor of the Strikeshield, because both america and the netherlands have it on the Bradley and the CV9035 respectively. lol

why is it so hard for the spikes to lock sometimes?
