Cross-Tree Research Bonus for Duplicate Vehicles - A Copy-Paste Solution

unlike some who would regard the smallest of physical details as a unique vehicle in terms of gameplay experience… i argue that while they are unique physically, gameplay wise, they are the exact same

hence, it is necessary for players to not be made to grind through the same kind off vehicle across multiple tech trees and ruin their experience by repetitive matches spanning 2-300 times

I’m tired of copy&paste things

How’d you know it’s unique? for example the M46 the did for France was the same just someone added extras on top.
That by all manners is a copy and pasted vehicle.

Though it is far more blatant in the likes of the M1A1 HC, T80 UE-1 and the 2A4M which they literally just Copy and pasted then added a skin too.

No work goes into that , at all.

Did you not actually look at the premiums?
Sure, the base model’s the same, but the added decorations exist on them.
Sure, it’s not research work, but it’s decisions on what decorations to incorporate.
Commission the model.
Commission the image artists.

Which are already in game, which are not new to the game.

Which means it is copied and pasted, as was proven on the french M46

That goes to gaijin, they tell the artists what they want and they make it.
The artists aren’t just told make us a T72 and let to run free with it.

The models themselves have been proven to be reused time and time again now. There isn’t anything wrong per say with that, but acting as if it is all freshly created and new materials is disingenuous.
Click-Bait by all standards is new even when it is mostly a copy of an already in game vehicle stats wise.

Also I’ve got most prems in game , seeings I have historical skins on, they are literally copy paste TT vehicles or other prems.

The original M1A1 HC, T80UE1, 2A4M are all unique not the exact copies with a skin sold at 70 bangers

EDIT: wee piece of proof, M46 for France, BP_
even brought across a bug from the US M46 with it’s fuel canister shadows.

Please read this, everyone. I love the work of the war thunder artists.

In theory this is a great idea.

In practice it will fail because of Gaijin’s greed. Any vehicle that isn’t exactly 1 to 1 equal will be treated as an entirely different tank. Gaijin would add it to a dozen or so vehicles where they have no choice because they are actually completely identical, but then not others.

Why? Well because the more you have to grind, the more likely you are to pay your money to get GE for premium time or modification research.

And even then, with the dozen or so vehicles that receive this bonus, they would just ever so slightly increase the RP needs for other vehicles. Gaijin pretty much has a “quota” of RP necessary for each rank of a tech tree if I remember right.

Bumped up either way.

It’s up to Gaijin of course to decide what vehicles are duplicate (or maybe it’s better to create some different name for them in the game like “international”), but in my opinion, such vehicles should be only regular, have same modifications*, be placed at the same battle rating, in most cases share the same 3d model.

*maybe with some exclusions, like when additional modification is minor and doesn’t affect battle rating and you won’t get RP reduced for such modification;

Probably even in case of Strv121, it shouldn’t be considered identical to 2A4, not only because there are some minor differences, but also differences in shells available.

Examples of my understanding:
Should get bonus - Italian, French, Chinese M4A4; American and French M26;
Shouldn’t get bonus - Italian and British Sherman VC; American M26 and Italian M26A1;
Under question - German and Italian StuG IIIG (same BR and base model, but too many differences: sideskirts/osketten, smoke grenades, add-on armor), German and Italian Leopard 1A5 (different first-order ammo rack capacity, LWS + Italian one should have a bit different hull from 1A2s, although it isn’t modelled in the game).

Didn’t Germany’s come first?

Finnish - 26 October 2022;
German - 7 March 2023;
Hungarian - 19 September 2023.
Finnish has a slightly different armor composition.

The idea is nice, but in my opinion, a 50% bonus on EVERYTHING is excessive, utopian! 10 to 20% is already cool.
The game involves grinding, it’s like that for all players and in all nations. Plus, it allows those who don’t have golden balls to train their crews by grinding.
In fact, always wanting to change everything to make life easier is already a bad idea. It lowers skill.
So, a 50% bonus is too much, I think.

For me, 20% MAX, only for pure C&P, as you explain in "What qualifies as a “copy-paste vehicle” under this system?", and only on RP and SL when purchasing the sponsored vehicle. There is no reason to have -50% on the RP & SL modification price, or on the cost of crew training, the crew is not c&p, it is another one so no reason.
20% is already huge, keep in mind that the bonus for the next vehicle in the tree is 10%, so let’s not overdo it.

10-20% is nothing bro, and the grind is big enough. Also you only get the boost if you already grinded the vehicle somewhere else, I don’t see why one should spend tons of time grinding what they already have somewhere else… yes the game is partly about grinding, but there’s very much enough grind to do and there still will be enough if this is added

50% is a dream. I would settle for 30% to be honest, don’t mind.

I was thinking about a similar suggestion for soo long! A few examples: I stopped grinding france at 3.7 because I hit the Shermans, which I already played in the USA and Italy. I just couldn’t bother tho grind them. And for the M-44? I completely ignored it in the Italian tech-tree and never played it in the German tech-tree either, or Japan for that matter. Please give us a discount on the vehichle modules too…

Please please please

To me, this just seems like a band-aid solution for overall poor progression system that requires a more extensive rework. I don’t want to settle for half-measures when possible.

I mean this doesn’t really stop others solutions, it would just be nice because it would keep the upsides of copypaste while reducing some of the downsides: people who don’t own the copied vehicle in another tree will grind it normally, and people who own it already can skip it faster. What’s bad about this?
Anyway, could you be more specific on what you want instead?

Would be very nice to help move forward in a couple of trees +1

In my opinion copu paste solution is not to do copy paste. My main problem with copy paste is not that i need to research it, but that i have to play with and against it.

But huh, gaijin will never see it as problem. So that would be at least nice.
