Crew Skills Need to Be Removed

I already explained it, I am trying to wait for your reading comprehension to process it over these last years.

Your most recent “arguments” were

  • that “Average people don’t score highly in SB” by which logic, the fact that you don’t do well in AB must mean it’s even harder. So… arguing directly against yourself, actually.

  • that “It takes 10x more effort to play SB” which you gave no reasoning for at all and just pulled completely out of your ass. Not much more to say about that. I might as well just go “Nuh uh! AB is 30x more effort actually!” and it’s equally strong.

  • that “There’s a higher skill ceiling” which also actually argues against yourself. If a mode has a bunch of initial memorization and rote practice required, which you’ve already done in the past, then you’re no longer putting effort in, and it’s actually EASIER for you now days, not harder. This is usually the true motivation for people on your side of this conversation: wanting to lazily seal club and win with no effort, but still want to trick people into thinking they’re a badass somehow.

All of which you also abandoned even pretending to defend some time ago, reverting to mindless posts like “Fake news” with no other text instead.

So no, there’s nothing on the table currently to “process”. You like modes with more up front work, because once you do it once, you can retire, digest your own brain like a sponge since you don’t need it anymore, and just exist without trying hard and hope people are fooled and still impressed by it.

Kind of like getting tenure.

There is only one answer for this, Crew skill should not be removed the only part that needs removed is
getting an Aced crew with only GE but should be SL at 2million tops and getting ab Expert crew should be 750k tops.

I have level 75 crews on my aircraft. Even as a veteran player I have to throw millions of SL into Expert crew skills and thousands of GE if I want to have Ace crews. It may be true that players who buy a top-tier premium without grinding their crew skills may be the most affected, but they are certainly not the only ones. Further, if Gaijin is going to sell top-tier premiums to new players, they shouldn’t simultaneously give those players a bad experience because they want to incentivize grinding in certain ways.

Gaijin would have to refund a lot of people a lot of money if it removed things people have paid for. Class action is rife in the USA.

A top tier pack does include the GE to max out an air crew. They should also put in the SL to expert it. And an instruction on how to do it. Otherwise, new players will quickly be frustrated.

yeah so no need to remove it, it hardly changes anything

It changes plenty of you paid for something and don’t get it. That is illegal.

not what i meant, i said keep the current system

I see what you mean now. My mistake.

Rather than “Remove” it you simply instead make the crew skill training rate like 20x faster than it is now, and give new players a booster pack amount when they join, or whatever.

Nobody can really sue you for that. You DIDN’T take anything away, they DO still have the crew poitns they paid for. But it’s also functionally the same as removing it, but without actually “removing” it

Too much money to made from it. All the little cheap things add up. Players have to serve their apprenticeship in this game, we all did. Many of us are still serving it.

Gaijin can bury things in small print all they want but they are selling a product, and they have to stay within the law of whatever country they are selling in.Court cases are bad press even if Gaijin are on good ground.

Gaijin have to be careful if they are selling SL for GE as well because then SL is not the free currency Gaijin think it is. It becomes actual currency. Real money converted to GE converted to SL . Any trip to court is long and expensive for both sides which is why class actions are brought like the one against Bethesda.

Just saying War Thunder need to be careful and probably are. They certainly word their terms and conditions carefully, but those terms and conditions will get picked apart in court.

Well, first off, they will not & prolly cannot remove crew skills. The simple fact that players, for over 11 years now, have been buying crew skill “speed up’s” & Ace qualifications for GE’s(real money) pretty much makes it a no go under any conditions. They simple will not remove things from the game that people have paid real money for. Even tho, it is quite assuredly covered in the EULA/TOS we all agreed to when we made our accounts. I mean they can literally just turn the game off at any moment and it is legal to do so. And the player’s recourse most likely would be to merely scream their fingers off on Reddit or something. I hope nothing like that ever happens, but I am pretty sure all that is covered . … and every game out there has similar parts to their EULA/TOS as well.
But, it is not likely to ever change, not much anyway. And contrary to many opinions given in here against the crew skill system as it is, I do not think it makes anything near a “game changing” difference for that last part, the Ace crew. And it is no “locked behind a paywall” at all, anyone can get it for FREE, just by playing. Almost everything in the game is like that, except the premium vehicles & premium time for your account. And even those do not give an advantage in game play functions, just help a player progress faster.
I will agree that crew skills have a much bigger impact on vehicle performance in naval, that is pretty plain and easy to spot as you get your crew skills up for your ships. But for planes and tanks it is not nearly as big of a change to performance. . . imho anyway.
I have like 6 - 8 vehicles that I have gotten the FREE Ace on, and yes . . it requires an insane amount of game play to accomplish. I have a great many vehicles that are Ace’d, and I GE’d those . . . not right away, as I have only paid “full price” for some very low tier/cheap Ace vehicles, btu most I got to lvl I or II before I spent on them, which gets the cost down a good deal on most vehicles.
I got in the habit of setting every vehicle I put in a slot to Expert crew early on, as it is not expensive until you get pretty far up the tree(This is something that should have been in the Roadmap as well, “over priced expenditures”) and I do that because once set to Expert, every game played counts towards the FREE Ace. Basic skills do not count towards this. But that is just the way I have played the game for the past 10 years.
What I wonder in this plan to “remove” crew skills, is how am I to be “reimbursed” for all the time, effort and money I have put into developing good crew skills on all of my nations? I have 8 slots for Russia which are maxed in all 3 vehicle types on all 8 slots. I should just give all that up because you do not know how or want to work a part of the game that has always been there and is the same for everyone?? . . . . not sure how you can justify any of that really . . .
Just my opinion

I was simply explaining how you can remove it without a lawsuit, I wasn’t trying to argue that it would be in their best interest or not businesswise.

The terms and conditions don’t need to say anything to not get sued over giving something for free that you used to charge for.

By that logic, every single time a store has a sale, they’d get sued “I paid more for this widget than this other guy did later on sale!!”

Don’t assume I was in any way having a go at you, I wasn’t. My point is that if Gaijin are selling things for GE then they have a certain obligation.

I can appreciate that they word the terms in a certain way, like the fact they are lending items for a fee and not actually selling but as we all know that does not stop lawsuits and you can word things however you like it still has to be legal.

There is nothing to stop somebody taking Gaijin to court over changing the BR of a premium if they feel they have been mis sold that premium. If they have the money and the lawyers, then anything is game because you only get as much justice as you can afford in life.

So to stay on topic, yes, the Game makers need to be careful how far they move the goalposts. You also have goodwill to the player.

The big problem with forums and suggestions is that often those who make the suggestions don’t see the big picture, I think we can all see that. Those who paid for crew skills and utilize them will want to keep them. Is that not unfair? Same with those who took time to earn them.F2P players have put years into developing their crews as well.

Giving them for free to other people and/or making the rate you get them 20x faster in no way suggests that “Those who paid for crew skills cannot utilize them or do not get to keep them” They do and they do. So what is this hypothetical lawsuit about? What’s the tort?

Same as it was when they took Bethesda to court over Fallout and DLC. Somebody aggrieved or trying to make a quick buck or a name for themselves.

Tort as you may know is about people being responsible for their actions and that includes game makers.

Better not leave your house today or continue posting on the forums, someone might sue you for it.

If a lawsuit has no tort or standing at all, it’s pretty pointless to worry about it or change your behavior. It will most likely get thrown out for a few hours of lawyer fees on your part, and even if not, you’d literally never get anything done or run any business if you spent all day being paranoid about fake lawsuits for the sky being blue.

If removing crew skills is determined to be a good business decision aside from this, then that would greatly outweigh “some niche chance someone makes an illogical lawsuit about it and miraculously doesn’t have it instantly thrown out”, so you should just do it anyway

My sister has been a lawyer for over 30 years I am sure she would love to live your version of the law and its definite outcomes.

It seems to me that you are in some way utterly terrified of losing what you see as an argument rather than trying to find a solution to an issue or addressing a post.

On the exact contrary, I gave and endorsed a simple, practical solution to this game issue: just give everyone crew points.

You are the one frozen in fear of any possible solution ever and stonewalling anything, since whether it’s that one or any other possible one, it would necessarily give some amount of relative disadvantage to people who paid for crew points, thus could cause a spooooky frivolous lawsuit.
